    PITMAN - Thelma M. Wiest, 93, formerly of Pitman and a resident of Polk Personal Care Center, Millersburg for four years, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at the Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township, where she had been a patient for three weeks.
    Born in Pitman on April 20, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Margaret Salome (Bohner) Masser. She was married for 56 years to her husband, Walter F. "Dud" Wiest, who died on March 1, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a companion, Ralph A. Keim, who died Oct. 29, 2004.
    She was a 1932 graduate of Pine Park High School, Leck Kill. She attended her 76th class reunion this year at which she sang the alma mater.
    Thelma was a homemaker and helped her husband, Walter, with the family farm.
    She enjoyed quilting, gardening and raising flowers, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a role model while living at Polk Personal Care Center, having participated in all the activities and also encouraging other residents to participate.
    She was a life member of Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church at Leck Kill, where she helped create the Ladies Aid. She was a former Sunday school teacher, a former member of the choir, the Ladies Guild, the church quilting group, and helped in the organization of the annual turkey supper and annual donut making, as well as other church fund raisers. She was a former member of the Mahantongo Valley Senior Citizens of Pitman, where she previously served as a tour director. She was also a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge, Camp No. 433, of Pitman.
    Surviving are three daughters and their partners, Lena Shadel and companion Roger Romberger, Jean, wife of Lee Bixler, and Darlene, wife of Melvin Deeter, all of Hegins; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Sandra Wiest, of Pitman; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Brown, of Klingerstown and Pearl Crissinger, of Gratz; two sisters-in-law, Betty Laudenslager, of Gratz and Ruth Masser, of Leck Kill; nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, May Romberger Herring in 1988; and four brothers, Clarence in 1977, Ralph in 1982, Clement in 2002, and Felix Masser in 2007; and a foster sister, Cardie (Leitzel) Masser in 1969.
    A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church, Leck Kill, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating.
    Burial will follow in Jacob's Cemetery, Pitman.

    LECK KILL -- Clement L. Masser, 92, of Leck Kill, died at 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsvjlle, where he had been admitted Dec. 17, 2001. He had been ill since November 2001.
    Born in Leck Kill on Dec. 13, 1909, he 'was a son of the late Charles M. and Margaret Salome (Bonner) Masser. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Pauline M, Fetterolf, on March 16, 1978. He was united in marriage to his second wife, Leah (Rothermel) (Masser) Masser, on April 28, 1979.
    Mr. Masser was a retired farmer but still loved and remained active in farming. He sold farm produce for more than 40 years in the Ashland, Girardville, Mahanoy City areas, retiring in 1975.
    He was educated in the Upper Mahanoy Township schools.
    He was a member of the Christ United Church of Christ and Sunday school, Leck Kill, where he had served as a former elder, deacon and treasurer. He was currently a member of the Jacob's Cemetery Board, RR1 Pitman.
    He was also a member of the Mahantongo Fire Company, Pitman.
    Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters arid sons-in-law, June and Willard Haas of RR1 Lewisburg, Diana and Bryant Klinger, and Joan and Steve Troutman, all of RR1 Klingerstown; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Arlene Masser of RR1 Pitman; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Glenn and Carole Masser of RR1 Pitman and James and Darlene Masser of RR1 Klingerstown; 10 grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Wiest of RR1 Pitman, Verna Brown of RR1 Klingerstown and Pearl Crissinger of Gratz; and one brother, Felix Masser of Leck Kill.
    In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Patti Ann Klinger; one stepgrandson, Brent Masser; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyrone, Toni and Amanda Wehry, one sister, May (Romberger) Herring; and two brothers, Clarence Masser and Ralph Masser.
    Visitors may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christ United Church of Christ, Leek Kill. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church by the Rev. Mark Rothermel, his pastor of RR1 Klingerstown.
    Burial will be in Jacob's Cemetery, RR1 Pitman.

    Services were held Friday morning from the Buffington Funeral Home, Vallev View, for Charles Elias Fetterolf Jr., 58, Cressona Road, Pottsville RD1, who died Jan. 6 at his home.
    The son of Charles E. Fetterolf Sr. and the late Minnie Underkoffler Fetterolf, he was born at Pitman.
    He was a veteran of World War II and served as a pilot later becoming a pilot instructor. He was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Air Corps. Following his discharge from the service he was vice president of Furneval Machinery Co., Philadelphia, and for the past several years was a sales manager for Schuylkill Products, Cressona. He was a member of Pulaski Lodge 216 F and AM.
    Surviving are his widow, the former Helen Snyder; two sons, James Sr., Minneapolis, Minn; Charles III, Fort Sill, Okla; his father; three grandchildren.
