    Wilbur W. "Pete" Ulmer, of 8 Carbon St., Minersville, died Monday afternoon at Pottsville Hospital.
    He was born in Minersville, a son of the late Christian and Marie Schonhaar Ulmer.
    He was an Army veteran of World War II.
    He was employed in the office of the Minersville Water Authority until his retirement.
    Mr. Ulmer was instrumental in the building and maintaining of the Minersville Little League Field and was a coach for many years. He also played semi-pro baseball in the Twin County and Southern Anthracite leagues.
    He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 544, Lions Club and Odd Fellows Lodge, all of Minersville.
    A son, Claude, nine brothers and four sisters, preceded him in death.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Rothermel; a daughter, Gretchen Sabitsky, Minersville; a sister, Alma Kennedy, Mahanoy City; two grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home, 104 S. Fourth St., Minersville. The Rev. Charles A. Adami Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville.

    BUSH -- Helen R. Bush, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 197S, died Saturday, March 5, 1994. She it survived by her husband of 52 years, Col. William J. (Joe) Bush, U.S.A.F., Ret., of Albuquerque; sons, William J. Bush, Jr., and wife, Georgina of Vienna, Austria, and Daniel R. Bush and wife, Cynthia of Urbana, IL; sister, Margaret Ulmer of Minersville, PA ; and four grandchildren, Sonja of Seattle, WA, and Gideon, Erinn, and Tucker of Urbana, IL. In raising two sons, she was a teacher, mentor, and loving guide. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile and a serious sports fan. She will be missed. Memorial services will be held Thursday, 12:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE, with Rev. Annette Sorensen officiating.' In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Daughters of the Nile Convalescent Relief Fund, or the Ballut.5

    William J. (Joe) Bush passed away Oct. 5, 2009 with his wife Tillie, and his son and daughter in law (Jeff and Maura Wegener) at his side. Joe was born to Esther Davies and William G Bush in 1922 in Minersville, Pa and was the eldest of four sons. He married his high school sweet heart, Helen Rothermel, in 1942 while training as a pilot for WWII. They had two sons, William J. Bush Jr. and Daniel R. Bush, and four grandchildren (Sonja Joe, Gideon, Erinn, & Tucker). After the war, Helen & Joe started a dairy, but Joe was called back in 1951 to fly B29s in the Korean War. He stayed in the Air Force, and flew B47s in Strategic Air Command until getting a nuclear engineering degree from NC State and moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1959. He became a Mason and Shriner in 1963 and was an active member for most of his life. He was also a member of the Order of Daedalians. In 1967 he obtained a MS in engineering management, but was assigned as a C130 pilot in Vietnam for two years. He returned to the US in 1969 and finished his AF career in Calif. in the missile business. He retired in 1974 with over 7,300 hrs of flight time. Sadly, Helen passed away in 1994 but Joe was lucky to find his second true love when he married Loreta Wegener in 1996. Joe was a loving, outgoing man with many friends and a loving family. He will be deeply missed and always remembered. A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 9, at 2 pm in the Brill Chapel at Epworth Villa, 14901 N. Penn, OKC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Benevolent Fund of Epworth Villa.
