DOVER — John Konyar, 56, of Dover, entered into rest Friday, Sept. 26, 2014. He was the loving husband of Julia F. (Rothermel) Konyar. The couple celebrated 34 years of marriage Nov. 24, 2013.
Born in Shamokin, Dec. 15, 1957, he was a son of the late John and Lena (Bucher) Konyar.
John attended Breeden School of Welding and began his career with General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, Conn. After moving back to Pennsylvania, he served 30 years at PPL, Brunner Island.
John was a member of IBEW Local 1600; Shiloh American Legion Post 791, and Trevorton American Legion Post 92. He was passionate about baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was also a fan of Penn State football. John enjoyed outdoor recreation, including spending time on the beach. Most of all, he loved socializing and being with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, Jason E. Konyar and wife, Heather (Brinton) Konyar; two grandchildren, Ava Claire Konyar and Jay Brinton Konyar; a sister, Debra Kreiger, of Allenwood; two brothers, Kim Konyar, of Hughesville, and Ty Konyar, of Halifax, and numerous nieces and nephews.

KONYAR — John Konyar, 56, of Dover. A memorial service to honor John's life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Emig Funeral Home, 47 N Queen St., Dover, www.emigfuneralhome.com. The Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier will officiate. Visitation with the family will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Baber Cemetery, in Pottsville. William J. Maurer, 80, of Dornsife and formerly of Williamsburg, Va., passed away Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Mount Carmel, a son of the late Jasper and Ada (Wolfe) Maurer. He was raised by his late grandparents, Jacob and Jenny Maurer. Bill was married on June 4, 1955, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Red Cross to the former Shirley L. Bucher who survives.
He was a 1954 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School.
Bill was a manager of bus operations for Colonial Foundation, Williamsburg. Later moving back to the area, he drove bus for Klinger Bus Company. He always had a love for children and driving bus.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church Red Cross, where he served on church council and taught Sunday School. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and games.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Craig Maurer, of Virginia and Chris Maurer, of Georgia; one daughter, Fran Morrison, of Texas; five grandchildren, Joshua Maurer, Adam Maurer, Christopher Maurer, Lance Maurer and Aaron Lipetina; seven great-grandchildren, Conner Maurer, Kendall Maurer, Logan Maurer, Zoey Maurer, Harper Maurer, Austin Lipetina and Kylie Lipetina; and one step-sister, Shirley Zimmerman, of Florida. Also surviving are notable family members, Rodney and Jean Deppen and Rick and Donna Houser.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Red Cross, followed by a memorial service at 11 with the Rev. Will Cole officiating.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William's memory to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 235 Schwaben Creek Road, Dornsife, PA 17823.
Funeral arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.

     William A. Kahler was born in 1900, Rebuck, Northumberland County, PA.1 He married Sadie Elizabeth Erdman, daughter of Daniel Erdman and Sevilla Elizabeth Schwalm.2 William A. Kahler died on 14 December 1935, Renovo, Clinton County, PA. The cause of death was septicemia following the amputation of his left arm, because of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound while hunting.1 He was buried on 18 December 1935, at Himmel Church Cemetery, Rebuck, Northumberland County, PA.1,3

Spade was born on 24 October 1884, Shamokin, Northumberland County, PA.1 He was the son of Joseph Spade and Sarah Beetle.1 Charles E. Spade married Sadie Elizabeth Erdman, daughter of Daniel Erdman and Sevilla Elizabeth Schwalm, on 1 December 1951, Herndon, Northumberland County, PA.1 Charles E. Spade died on 2 May 1975, Community Hospital, Sunbury, Northumberland County, PA, at age 90.1

Services for Charles E. Spade, 90, of RD Dornsife, who died at 4:15 Friday morning at Sunbury Community Hospital where he was a patient eight days, will be held Monday morning in St. Peter's Lutheran Church,Red Cross, RD Dornsife. Earl D. Kahler, 63, of Elizabethville area, died Wednesday afternoon while working on the farm of his son-in-law, Larry Shade, Elizabethville area.
He was born in Rebuck, April 3, 1921, a son of Sadie Erdman Kahler Spade, Herndon, and the late William Kahler.
He retired as a plumber in 1984. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 520, Harrisburg, for 18 years.
Mr. Kahler was a World War II Army veteran.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was married to the former Clara Haas at Rebuck on Dec. 25, 1942.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and his wife, are a daughter, Lily, wife of Larry Shade, Elizabethville area; a son, William E., at home; three grandchildren; a brother, Carl, Dalmatia; two sisters, Marlene, wife of Thomas Herrold, Herndon, and Arleah, wife of Willard Erdman, Summerdale.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown. The Rev. Michael Romig, United Church of Christ, Gratz, will officiate. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax. There will be no calling hours.

     Carl William Kahler was born on 12 May 1925, Red Cross, Northumberland County, PA.1 He was the son of William A. Kahler and Sadie Elizabeth Erdman. Carl William Kahler died on 27 October 2006, at home, Dalmatia, Northumberland County, PA, at age 81.1

DALMATIA — Carl W. "Buddy" Kahler, 81, of Dalmatia, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at his home. He had been in ill health for the past six years.
Born in Red Cross on May 12, 1925, he was a son of the late William and Sadie (Erdman) Kahler. He lived in Dalmatia since 1952. On Feb. 2, 1952, in Himmel's Church, he married the former Leda E. Mattern, who survives.
He was educated in the former Pine Park High School, Leck Kill.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Transportation Corps from 1945 through 1948, and also the Korean War from 1950 through 1951.
He retired on Aug. 29, 1980, after 32 years of service at the U.S. Navy Ship Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg.
Carl was a lifelong member of Himmel's U.C.C. Church, Rebuck, where he had served as a former councilman and served on the building committee when the church was built in 1960.
He enjoyed gardening.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four sons and three daughters-in-law, David Kahler of Fallston, Md., Mark and Kathleen Kahler of Oakland, Maine, Dean and Debbie Kahler of Bellevue, Ohio, and Don and Carole Kahler of RR5 Sunbury; two sisters, Marlene Herrold of Herndon and Arleah Erdman of Summerdale; two grandsons, James and Jesse Kahler of Bellevue, Ohio; two step grandsons, Nathan and James Williford of Maine; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one infant brother, Mark Kahler in 1923, and Earl Kahler in 1985; and one grandson, John Kahler in 1994.
Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Himmel's Church, Rebuck and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Frederick Faust officiating.
Burial will be in Himmel's Cemetery, Rebuck.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to either the Himmel's Church Memorial Fund, Rebuck, PA 17867, or to SUN Home Hospice, 61 Duke St., P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.

HERNDON -- Thomas Bogar Herrold, 61, of Herndon died Saturday, May 6, 1995, at his home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Herndon; a son of the late Harry and Ruth (Bogar) Herrold. He was married to the former Marlene Kahler.
Mr. Herrold was a maintenance supervisor employed by New Columbia Joist Co.
He was a member of Seibert Evangelical Congregational Church, Free and Accepted Masons Lodge No. 702 and Herndon Fire Company, all of Herndon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven of Herndon RD1 and Thomas of Herndon; two daughters, Pam Hood and Kathy Herrold, both of Herndon; one brother, John of Sodus Point, N.Y; eight sisters, Olive Trometter of Sunbury RD1, Evelyn Trometter, Jean Walter, Betty Snyder, Marjorie Hovenstine and Sue Shrader, all of Herndon, Harriet Smith of Sunbury and Carol Zimmerman of Millersburg; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Richard.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Seibert Evangelical Congregational Church, Herndon, by the Rev. Randy Seizmore. Burial will be in the Herndon Cemetery.

Willard was born July 30, 1932 in Klingerstown, PA to the late Edna Mae and Whalen Erdman. Willard was an Army veteran serving with a company 185th Signal Battalion. In 1950, he graduated from Food Service School Camp Polk, Louisiana, cooking was Dutch's passion. He retired from TRW/Chromalloy in 1994, and also worked for the former McGarvey Sunco service station and Bruner's Service center of Enola.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge Millersburg since 1986.
He belonged to the Central Pennsylvania blood Bank.
Dutch was a NASCAR enthusiast and enjoyed camping.
Surviving is his wife Arleah, a daughter, Barbara Brightbill and her husband Randy, a sister, Linda Leitzel of Tower City, and a brother, Norwood Erdman of Dalmatia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 in the Richardson Funeral Home Inc., Enola. A viewing will be held from 12:00 Noon until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. www.pennlive.com/obits
