Anna Elizabeth Williams, 96, formerly of 206 Gap St., Valley View, died Friday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Red Cross, Sept. 29, 1908, a daughter of the late Jay and Vesta Erdman Zartman.
She retired from the former Philmark Mfg. Company, Valley View. She was also part-owner of the former Midland Theater, Valley View.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, and was a charter member of Tri-Valley Senior Citizens. She was also a member of Mahantongo Senior Citizens, Gratz Historical Society, American Legion Post 575 Auxiliary and Valley View Fire Company Auxiliary.
She was the widow of Earl E. Williams, who died in 1980. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helen E. Artz, in 2002; a grandson, Richard Artz, in 1998; three brothers, Daniel, Fred, and Clarence Zartman; and two sisters, Carrie Snyder and Mary Barnhardt.
She is survived by a grandson, Kim W. Artz, Reading, and by three grandchildren, Venessa Y. Engle, Perkasie, Travis C. Artz, Thailand, and Jamey E. Artz, West Lawn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, with the Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating, assisted by the Rev. Curtis Zemencik. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the church. Interment will be in the Church of God Cemetery, Valley View. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, PA 17983 or to the American Red Cross, Katrina Relief Fund.      Carrie C. Zartman was born on 26 January 1910, Red Cross, Northumberland County, PA.1,2 She was the daughter of Jay Claude Zartman and Vesta Idella Erdman. Her married name was Snyder. Carrie C. SELINSGROVE - Carrie C. Snyder, 95, of Grayson View, Selinsgrove, formerly of RR1 Klingerstown, died at 10:37 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, in Sunbury Community Hospital, where she was admitted earlier in the day. She had been a patient at Penn Lutheran Village for several days.
She was born Jan. 26, 1910, in Red Cross, a daughter of the late Jay C. and Vesta (Erdman) Zartman. Her husband, Clarence N. "Nips" Snyder, preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1996.
Carrie was a retired rural mail carrier, serving the Dornsife, Rebuck and Leck Kill areas for many years.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, and a former member of the Lutheran Church Women.
Carrie enjoyed quilting, embroidering and doing crafts.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Jean M. Snyder of Leck Kill; three grandchildren, Connie Ness, Mark S. Snyder and Paul B. Gilbert-Snyder; seven great-grandchildren, Kevin and Carol Warm, Krista and Sara Ness, Theresa Snyder and Gwendolyn and Helena Gilbert-Snyder; and two sisters, Anna Williams of Tremont and Mary Barnhart of Millersburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark E. Snyder, on May 24, 2004, and three brothers, Daniel, Fred and Clarence Zartman.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Leck Kill, where the funeral will follow at 11 with her pastor, the Rev. Michael Ware, officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Jay Frederick Zartman married Amanda Pauline Michael on 15 April 1933, Herndon, Northumberland County, PA.3 Jay Frederick Zartman lived in Herndon, Jackson Township, Northumberland County, PA.1 He died on 6 June 1996, Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, PA, at age 84.1

HERNDON -- Jay "Fred" Zartman, 84, of Herndon, died at 3:17 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 1996, at The Williamsport Hospital. Mr. Zartman was admitted to the hospital on May 30.
Mr. Zartman was born in Red Cross on Sept. 9, 1911, a son of the late Claude J. and Vesta I. "(Erdman) Zartman. Mr, Zartman was a lifetime resident of the Herndon area, employed for many years as a shovel operator for Kerris Helfnck retiring in 1974.
Mr. Zartman was married on April 15, 1933, in the Herndon Lutheran Parish to the former A. Pauline Michael, who preceded him in death Nov. 19, 1990.
Mr. Zartman attended Jordan Township schools and was a member of St, Peter's Lutheran Church, Red Cross, the United Mine Workers Union, the Klingerstown Fire Company and the Herndon Pioneer Rod Gun Club. Mr. Zartman also was an avid hunter.
Surviving are one son, Dean F. Zartman Sr. of RD2 Middleburg; one daughter, Lorraine Witmer of Dalmatia; four grandchildren; two great-granchildren; three sisters, Anna Williams of Valley View, Carrie Snyder of Leck Kill and Mary Barnhart of Lykens; and one brother, Clarence Woodrow Zartman of Red Cross.
Mr. Zartman was preceded in death by one daughter, Sonja Zartman, and one brother, Daniel Zartman.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday June 10, from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Red Cross, by the Rev. Glen B. Keidel Jr. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Cross. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church and from 10 a.m. to the time of the funeral on Monday.

Clarence Woodrow Zartman, 88, of RR1 Dornsife, died Tuesday morning at Sunbury Community Hospital.
Born in Dornsife, July 8, 1914, he was a son of the late Jay C. and Vesta Erdman Zartman. He was educated in Washington Township schools.
He retired in 1979 as a heavy equipment operator for Reading Anthracite Co., Pottsville.
He was a member of Grace Community Church, Herndon, United Mine Workers Union of America, Lower Northumberland County Senior Action Center, Herndon, and a former member of Big Spring Hunting Camp, Potter County.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Queen M. Donmoyer, Feb. 4, 1997; an infant daughter in 1939; two brothers, Daniel and Fred.
Surviving are a son, Dennis W., Herndon; three sisters, Anna Williams, Valley View, Carrie Snyder, Klingerstown, and Mary Barnhart, Millers-burg; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

HERNDON-Dennis Woodrow Zartman went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 6, 2024. Born on February 8, 1945 to the late Clarence Woodrow and Queen Mary (Donmoyer) Zartman, Dennis spent his entire life minus a short time living in Urban, PA on his parents' land.
Dennis graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School, class of 1962, and earned a certificate in Heavy Equipment Operation and Service at the Williamsport Technical Institute in 1964. On April 17, 1965, he married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Troutman, who survives. He was extremely proud to have voluntarily enlisted to serve his country during the Vietnam War in the Navy Seabees from 1966-1968. He was dedicated to operating all types of heavy equipment in the construction of our interstate system and mining coal in the Shamokin area.
Dennis was a dedicated member of Grace Community Church, serving mainly in the music ministry but also in the Sunday school program and Elder Board. He recommitted his life to Christ at the age of 20 and faithfully worshipped there. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 504.
Dennis dearly loved his family, and enjoyed many times together, especially loving grandkids visits and sleepovers. He loved to fish, hunt, garden, and basically anything outdoors. For 30 years he made an annual trip to Black Lake, NY, fishing, eating and enjoying a good time with family and friends. He was a member of the Big Spring Hunting Camp, Potter County, and rarely missed a chance to hunt bear with the other members and looked forward to summertime trips to the camp with his friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey and wife Amy, Timothy and wife Melissa, and four grandchildren, Trent, Queenlyn, Ashton, and Brookelyn, all of Dornsife.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 12 from 9:30-11:00 am at Grace Community Church, Herndon, PA, with a Memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Dennis' memory can be made to Grace Community Church, 1218 State Route 225, Herndon, PA 17830.

MIDDLEBURG -- Dean F. Zartman Sr., 74, of 1641 Globe Mills Road, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 26, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 9, 1937, in Mandata, the son of the late Jay F. and A. Pauline (Michael) Zartman. On April 12, 1986, he married Kathy A. Dlabik, who survives.
Dean was a 1955 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School.
Earlier in his life, he had worked for the Troutman Bros. butcher shop, Klingerstown, and Lebo's Bakery, Sunbury. He retired in 1990 after 17 1/2 years of service from the Selinsgrove Center. Following his retirement, he worked part time for his cousin, Gene, at Zartman Construction, where he delivered bids and particularly enjoyed escorting large cranes.
Dean enjoyed building and repairing just about anything, and he was known by his family as a jack of all trades.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dean F. Zartman Jr. and wife Tina, of Centralia, Kan., and Jay D. Zartman and his companion, Taffi Ross-Johnston, of Northumberland; two grandchildren, Dawn Blewett and husband Chris and Karee Zartman; two stepgrandchildren, Katy and Chris Yarger; one sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Kermit Witmer, of Dalmatia; and two nieces, Jill Webber and Ann Pealer.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Sonya Zartman.
An informal celebration of Dean's life will be held at noon Saturday in the social hall of First United Church of Christ, Route 522, Middleburg.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

Kermit W. Witmer, 88, of Dalmatia, passed away on September 28, 2023, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born in Dalmatia on February 14, 1935, a son of the late Katie and Wayne Witmer. Kermit was an owner, operator truck driver.
He served in the Army and was a 1953 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School. Kermit was a member of Zion Stone Valley Church, Dalmatia and the Northumberland Historical Society. Kermit enjoyed wood working, spending time with his family and winters at his Florida home.
Kermit is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lorraine Witmer; two daughters, Ann (Jeff) Pealer, Jill (Tom) Webber; grandson, Lance Pealer; step-grandsons, Brandon and Blake Pealer; sister, Brenda Smeltz. He was preceded in death by brother, John Witmer, sisters, Elsie Peiffer, Leah Deppen, Betty Moore, Vivian Kauffman and Dollie Davis.
A visitation will be held on October 7, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Zion Stone Valley Church, Dalmatia. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at the Zion Stone Valley Church.1

     Jean M. Clark was born on 15 October 1933, RR 1, Dornsife, Northumberland County, PA.2 She was the daughter of Harry L. Clark and Flossie J. Snyder.1 As of circa 1951,her married name was Snyder.3 Jean M. Clark married Mark E. Snyder, son of Clarence N. Snyder and Carrie C. Zartman, on 1 December 1951.3,2 Jean M. Clark died on 3 September 2005, at home, Leck Kill, Northumberland County, PA, at age 71.2

LECK KILL - Jean M. Snyder, 71, of HC-63, Leck Kill, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at 3:02 p.m. at her home, having battled cancer for the past four and one-half years.
Born at RR1 Dornsife, on Oct. 15, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Harry L. and Flossie J. (Snyder) Clark.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and camping.
Mrs. Sndyer was a member of Himmel's Lutheran Church at Rebuck, where she had been a member of the Women of the Church.
She was a 1951 graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School at Dalmatia.
On May 24, 2004, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark E. Snyder whom she married Dec. 1, 1951.
Surviving are three children and spouses: Connie and Dennis Ness of Gladstone, Mich., Mark and Rachelle Snyder of Parker, Colo. and Paul and Pam Gilbert-Snyder of El Cerrito, Calif; seven grandchildren, Kevin and Carol Warm, Krista and Sara Ness, Theresa Snyder, Gwendolyn and Helena Gilbert-Snyder; and two sisters, Hope Rebuck of Rebuck and Joyce Fletcher of Jacksonville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William Clark in 2002.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Himmel's Church, Rebuck, with the Rev. Frederick Faust officiating. Burial will be in Himmel's Cemetery, Rebuck.

VALLEY VIEW - Earl E. Williams, 80, of 812 Main St., died Saturday at 7:45 p.m. in his home.
Mr. Williams owned and operated the Earl E. Williams Lumber Company, Valley View, and was a partner in Midland Theater, Valley View, from 1947 to 1972.
He was born March 27, 1901, in Hegins, son of the late Harry E. and S. Elizabeth Miller Williams. He was married to the former Anna E. Zartman, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Helen E. Artz of West Reading; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View. Burial will be in the Church of God Cemetery, Valley View.
