    Paul A. Dean, 46 S. Mahanoy St., formerly of North Nice Street, Frackville, died early Saturday morning, shortly after arrival at Saint Catherine Medical Center Fountain Springs.
    Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth Mervine Dean. He had been employed for PennDOT in the Vehicle Registration Department until retirement in 2003.
    He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge 1533 and Frackville Area Senior Citizens and was a social member of American Legion Post 398, all of Frackville.
    He was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Joseph, Darrin and James Dean; and a sister, Carol Hauze.
    Paul is survived by his wife, the former Janet Shuey with whom he would have celebrated 47 years of marriage in August; three sons, Paul and his wife, Beth Dean, Gordon, Duane and his wife, Carol Dean, Frackville, and Kris and his wife, Jess Dean, Lake Wynonah; a sister, Laura and her husband, Thomas Tomko, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Douglas, Tyler, Tanner, Paul, Kasey Jason and Jack Dean; nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, 501 Washington St., Frackville, with the Rev. Oliver Brown officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville.
