    Merl H. Schreffler
    Merl H. Schreffler, 50, of Pitman, died at 3:20 Friday afternoon at Pottsville Hospital where he was admitted Monday. He had been in ill health two years.
    Mr. Schreffler, son of the late Daniel and Irene Schreffler Schreffler, was born Aug. 7, 1924 in Leck Kill. He was employed for a number of years at Stehr's Bros. Feed Mill, RD Klingerstown. He was a member of Hepler's Church of God, Pitman; the Pitman Fire Company; Eureka Lodge 260, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Leck Kill; the Crissman Hunting Club.
    He was married Oct. 6, 1951 in Pitman to the former Rhea Swinehart, who survives.
    Also surviving are six children, Linda, wife of Glenn Kimmel, Celina, Ohio; David, Judy, Kay, Grace and Lee all at home; four brothers, Darvin and Ervin, both of Leck Kill; Guy, of Rebuck; Delbert, RD Dalmatia.
    Services will be held Monday morning in Hepler's Church of God, Pitman, with the Rev. A. E. Rhoads, Evangelical Congregational pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
    The Lawrence E. Rothermel Funeral Home, RD Klingerstown, has charge.

    PITMAN-Rhea Schreffler went to meet her Lord "on the airplane to heaven" on Friday, February 23, 2024. She was surrounded by her children and some of her grandchildren when she peacefully left her earthly home to step into the presence of the Lord. She was born in Pitman on September 5, 1927, the daughter of William and Minnie (Brosius) Swinehart who preceded her in death.
    She was married to Merl Schreffler on October 6, 1951, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1975.
    She is the mother of Linda (Glenn) Kimmel, David (Elaine) Schreffler, Judy Harris, Kay (Pat) Shutt, Grace (David) Wetzel and Lee Schreffler. She has 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Deanna) Kimmel, Jason (Tammy) Schreffler, April (Jeff) Brown, Alicia (Chris) McGrath, Angie (Jay) Nolt, Rachel Shutt, Leah (Carlos) Neira, Becky, Allen and Nathan Wetzel and Daniel (Chelsea) Schreffler. She has 14 great grandchildren: Quinton, Nevin (Ashley) and Shayanne Kimmel, Jenna, Karli, Luke and Brock Schreffler, Tyessa (John) Zuhlke, Sydney Brown, Brandon, Brady and Blake Frantz, Atlas and Elowynn Schreffler. She has 6 great, great grandchildren: Lucas Turner, Hoyt, Huntley and Oaklee Kimmel, Beau Zuhlke, and Karsyn Frantz.
    She has been "Grammy" to many other children over the past 20 + years as they have passed through the house during their pre-school years. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Mark (Arlene) Swinehart, Ben (Edna) Swinehart and Ralph (Gladys) Swinehart.
    She was passionate about her faith, family, friends and flowers. She was well known for her seamstress abilities and tailored or repaired clothing for many friends. She had a loving heart and a home that was open and welcoming to anyone. She loved flowers and often said that she only wanted flowers when she was able to see them.     There will be a visitation held at her church on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10-11 AM. Services will start at 11 AM with Pastor Bob Cassel officiating. After the services, burial will take place in the church graveyard.

    Mr. Troutman was born in Dornsife R.D., June 6, 1910, son of the late John and Emma (Goodman) Troutman. He was a retired farmer and state highway employe. Mr. Troutman was married to the former Martha Bobb, who died February 22, 1966. He was a member of Him mel's Church, Rebuck.
