    Henry F. Weist, 88, of Orwigsburg passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2011, in the Lehigh Valley Medical Center, where he was admitted earlier in the day with his family by his side.
    Henry was the widower of Naomi M. (Fessler) Weist, who passed away in 1964 and Jean (Brown) Weist, who passed away in 2002.
    Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Viola Weist Rowe.
    Henry was a veteran of WWII with the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre Group. He was an independent coal miner for many years of his life and later worked for Bethlehem Steel in their Iron Ore mining division, retiring upon their closing.
    Henry enjoyed the outdoors, doing his gardening and spending time with his granddog Rex.
    Surviving are one son, a brother,and a sister,
    Henry was predeceased by two sisters, Violet Bowers and Katherine (Sissy) McClintock; and a brother, Norman.
    Interment in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, with military honors.

    Born in Saint Clair, June 6, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Mary Pollock Tophoney.
    She was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Joseph School, Ashland.
    She worked at the Ashland Shirt Corp., Ashland, until retirement.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wetzel Jr., in 1982; a son, Raymond Wetzel, in 2004; five brothers, Louis, Alfred, Joseph, Francis and Vincent; a half brother, Tony Bosco; two sisters, Anna Barrett and Margaret Tallet.
    Surviving are two daughters, Carol, wife of Guy Mervine, Willow Grove, and Regina, wife of Ronald Akelaitis, Miami, Fla; one son, Henry, husband of Evelyn Wetzel, Ashland; one sister, Theresa McDonald, St. Louis, Mo; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mauritius Catholic Church, Ashland. The Rev. John W Bambrick will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.     Ronald Wetzel, 43, 805 Arch Street, Ashland, died Saturday on arrival at Ashland State Hospital. Born in Ashland April 5, 1932, he was the son of Henry Wetzel, Ashland and Mrs. Mary (Magdeburg) Tophoney, Pottsville.
    A resident of Ashland all of his life, he attended Ashland Schools and was self employed as a masonry contractor.
    He was a member of the Zion Reformed Church, Ashland, a veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Hose Company, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
    He is survived by his wife, the former Jewel Edmondson, and a son Ronald Jr. at home; also, brothers-and sisters: Richard, Ashland; Robert, Ashland; Rosella, wife of Charles Tobias, Pottsville; Sue Ann, wife of Edward Fekette, Pottsville; Jimmie Joe Wetzel, Pottsville. Also surviving him are his stepmother and the following step brothers and sisters: Carol, wife of Guy Mervien; Raymond, Ashland ; Mary Agnes, wife of Joseph Zerby. Pottsville; Regina Wetzel, Ashland and Henry, Ashland.
    The funeral will be Wednesday morning from the Kull Funeral Home, with the Reverend J. Rex Thomas of the Zion Reformed Church officiating. Interment will be in Brock Cemetery, Ashland.
