    He was born in Bellefonte March 14, 1910, a son of Joseph and Anastasia Fullier Novosel. He was married to the former Catherine McKinley, who died in 1984.
    Surviving are three sons: Ronald of Mill Hall, Charles of Milesburg, and James of Halifax; two daughters: Sandra Confer at home and Connie Harker of Duncansville; three brothers: Max of Glenview, Joseph of Bellefonte, and Anthony of Garden City, Calif; a sister, Mrs. Joseph Pletcher of Bellefonte; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

    James “Jim” Eugene Novesal, Sr., age 75, of Grantville, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, June 29, 2020. Jim was born on Thursday, August 10, 1944, in Bellefonte to the late Frank Joseph Novosel and Catherine Elizabeth (McKinley) Novosel. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his son, Brian Matthew Novesal; his two grandsons: Gregory Michael Weaver and Matthew Brian Novesal; his three siblings Charles Novosel, Ronald Novosel and Sandra Confer.
    Jim’s survivors include his four children: Deborah Louise McCreary and husband William of Camp Hill, James Eugene Novesal, Jr. and wife Jill of Mount Airy, Maryland, Stephen Curtis Thomas of Camp Hill, Jamelyn “Liz” Elizabeth Parks and husband Stephen of Grantville; his nine grandchildren: Jessica, Allysia, Nicklas, Kayla, Milan, Lindsay, Dante, Greyson, Brahm; his two great-grandsons: Benjamin and Nathaniel; his sister: Connie Harker of Bellefonte; and several nieces and nephews.
    Jim graduated from Bellefonte Area Senior High School as part of the class of 1963. He retired from Novesal Construction after many years as a self-employed carpenter. Jim was passionately patriotic. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a life-time member of the VFW and American Legion. Jim decorated his home for all patriotic holidays and Christmas. He began decorating for Christmas in November, and earned the nickname “Sparky” due to his use of thousands of lights. Jim had an affinity for trains, classic cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles; and he was well known for creating model train displays and repairing and painting classic cars. He was a fan of all things Coca-Cola and Pittsburgh Steelers, especially the Steelers teams of the “Steel Curtain” era. He displayed his Steelers gear with pride. Jim will be greatly missed.
    All are welcome to join Jim’s family at his viewing in person; or via video chat or telephone, on Monday, July 6, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until time of virtual viewing at 11:30 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Burial and committal with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
