    Richard A Clark, age 81, of Valley View, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - E Norwegian, Pottsville.
    He was born on Monday, December 16, 1940, in Hegins, a son of the late Allen R Clark and the late Verona V (Dietrich) Clark.
    He served in the US Army.
    Richard was a retired mechanic.
    He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins.
    Richard enjoyed working on lawn mowers and was known in the area as the lawn mower man. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and horse races and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
    His wife Irene L (Augustine) Clark, passed away November 15, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his parents; by an infant son, Allen F Clark and a brother, Lyle Clark.
    He is survived by two sons, John R Clark and his wife Denise of Hegins and Jeff S Clark and his companion Kerri Stanton of Valley View; a daughter, Anita T Bordner of Tower City; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Clark of Hegins; a sister, Barbara Miller of Hegins; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Michael C Klahr officiating.
    Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.
    Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

    Irene L. Clark, 82, of Valley View, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at her residence.
    She was born on Monday, July 17, 1939, in Mount Carmel, a daughter of the late John Augustine and Eleanor (Krouch)Augustine.
    Irene was a seamstress in area garment factories for 40 years, prior to her retirement.
    She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; by an infant son, Allen F. Clark; and by two sisters, Barbara Evert andMarcella Augustine-Yadlosky-Schwarz.
    She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Clark, to whom she was married for 63 years. She is also survived by two sons, John R. Clark and his wife, Denise, of Hegins, and Jeff S. Clark and his companion, Kerri Stanton, of Valley View; a daughter, Anita T. Bordner, of Tower City; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Augustine and his wife, Donna, of North Carolina; a sister, Jenny Pavelcheck and her husband, John, of York; two brothers-in-law, Lyke Clark, of Hegins, and Robert Clark and his wife, Cindy, of Hegins; a sister-in- law, Barbara Miller and her husband, Lamar, of Hegins; and several nieces and nephews.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Michael C. Klahr officiating.     Allen Clark, seven-weeks-old son of Richard and Irene Augustine Clark, Hegins, died early Friday at the home of his parents from suffocation.
    Deputy Coroner C. R. Buffington, Valley View, said death was caused by compression of the bed blankets on the infants trachea.
    Dr. Donald Malick was summoned and administered artificial respiration without success. The baby was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m.
    The child was born at the Good Samaritan Hospital Sept. 16, 1951. The child's mother was a former resident of Mt. Carmel.
    Surviving are the parents, a brother John, age 3, and a sister, Anita, 16 months; the maternal; grandmother, Mrs. Eleanor Augustine, Mt. Carmel; the maternal great-grandmother Mrs. Marcella Augustine, Mt. Carmel; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Clark Sr., Hegins R. D. and the paternal great- grandmother, Mrs. Viola Clark, Hegins RD.
    Funeral services will be at the Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday afternoon. Rev. Joseph McGovern, rector of the Immaculate Church, Tremont, will officiate. Interment in the St. John's Cemetery, Hegins.

    Samuel J. "Joe" Hess, 90, of Colonial Lodge, Denver, formerly of Lincoln (Ephrata), passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster.
    Born in Lititz on Feb. 10, 1921, he was the son of the late S. Walter and Minnie (Horst) Hess and was the husband of the late Helen I. (Dcitrich) Hess who passed away March 19, 2011. They were married 69 years.
    A member of Zion's United Church of Christ, Joe lived most of his life in the Lincoln area of Ephrata. He was a carpenter by trade, first working for his father building houses. He ended his career retiring from High Industries, Denver.
    He served in the Engineer Combat Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 through 1945.
    Joe is survived by his daughter: Linda, wife of Rev. Barry Zimmerman, of Brownstown; four grandchildren: Randy Maurer, Ronald Maurer, Kristie Lawrence and Todd Zimmerman; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
    Besides his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by a daughter. Geraldine Maurer; and son-in-law: Clyde Maurer.
    He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Eva Hess, Roy Hess, Frank Hess, Harold Hess, Vera Hess, Mary Davidson and Clyde Hess. He was the last of seven siblings.
    The funeral service was held on Feb. 6 at the Roseboro Stradling Samuel J. Hess Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street. Denver, with Rev. John C. Miller officiating. Burial took place in the Lincoln Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Red Rose Honor Guard.

Stoltzfos Maurer, Lancaster; a daughter; Kristie A., wife of Randy D. Lawrence, Ephrata; five grandchildren; and a sister; Linda J., wife of the Rev. Barry S. Zimmerman, Brownstown.
    Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service from Zion United Church of Christ, 1356 Apple St., Ephrata (Lincoln), on Wednesday, December 31, 2003, at 11 a.m. with The Rev. John C. Miller and The Rev. Barry S. Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Ephrata. A viewing will be held from Good Funeral Home A Cremation Centre, Inc., 34-38 N.     A graduate of Bowman Technical School of Clock Repair in Lancaster, he worked for 38 years repairing and refurbishing timepieces.
    Until his illness he worked at SMH US Inc. of Lancaster, formerly Hamilton Watch Co, as a quality control inspector.
    He belonged to Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, Ephrata.
    Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Randy B., Ephrata and Ronald A., Lancaster; a daughter, Kristie A., wife of Randy D. Lawrence, Ephrata; five grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn, wife of Junior Kehler of Valley View; and a brother, Robert P. of Sun City, Calif.
    The funeral service was held from Zions Reformed United Church of Christ, 1336 Apple St., Ephrata (Lincoln), on March 23 wife the Rev. John C. Miller officiating.
    Interment was in Lincoln Cemetery, Ephrata, with the Michael Tod Good Funeral Home, 34-38 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown, in charge of arrangements.
