    John Arthur Walter Sr left his earthly life on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at the age of 67.
    He is loved and forgiven by his wife Barbara his children: Tina, John, and Craig; his grandchildren: BJ, Darcy, Benjamin, Christina, Daniel, Jody, and Miranda; and his brother, William. He is also survived by his children Patsy, Vicki, and Troy, and their children, along with many relatives and friends in Florida and Michigan.
    He loved his dog, Smokey, his cats P-Nut, Callie, and Henri, and was a friend to all animals.
    Jack was a retired commercial fisherman and a member of the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell, Ky., in the 1950‘s. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cooking, yard sales, flea markets, and collecting of all kinds. One of his great pleasures was meeting people to exchange stories and jokes. He played guitar, along with writing and singing his own music as well as that of his favorite, Hank Williams, Sr. He enjoyed entertaining at several Jamborees and a County Fair in Upper Michigan.
    Thank you to all who befriended Jack and comforted his family at the time of our loss, especially our neighbors, the Smiths, Rev. Fred Brown, of St. John Baptist Church, Rick Groover, at Mansion Memorial, and the caring staff of Blackburn Elementary School.
    He was welcomed into Heaven by his mother, Hazel, and is now at peace in the palm of God’s hand.

    NILES Lawrence "Larry" D. Deitrich, 73, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, July 21 , 201 3 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, Indiana.
    Larry was born on September 2, 1939 to the late Harry S. and Grace (Adams) Deitrich. After graduating from Niles High School, Larry served his country in the U.S. Army, attended Olivet Larry College and then began for Tyler's working Refrigeration, retiring after 24 years as plant manager. Not being able to sit idle, shortly after his retirement he started working at McCoy Miller in Elkhart, Indiana where he was for over 10 years.
    He was an avid Chicago sports fan. He had a heart of gold and loved taking care of "his cats". He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and tending his garden. His family was his greatest possession and he valued every moment with them.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Jeanette Verdugo and Myrtle Allison.
    Larry is survived by his wife, Gale Deitrich of Niles; children, Traci (Frank) Toth of Niles and Bryan Deitrich of Niles; grandchildren, Melissa (Jason Quist) Spurlock of Niles, David (Jessica) Hunsberger of Niles and Brittany Deitrich of Mishawaka, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Blake Spurlock, Katelyn Hunsberger and Zayne, Teagan and Jamieson Hunsberger; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-laws, Louis Verdugo of Nevada and Cleo Allison of Ohio.
    Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Brown Funeral Home in Niles from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services to honor Larry will be on Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.
    Memorial contributions may be made in Larry's memory to Pet Refuge in Mishawaka, Indiana.
