    George B. Merine, 210 North Balliet street, Frackville, passed away Friday evening at his resdence. He was 47 years of age.
    Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late Alfred S. and Laura (Bowen) Mervine. His wife, Edith Miller Mervine, passed away in October, 1967.
    A veteran of World War II, he was a mechanic by occupation and was last employed at Indiantown Gap, retiring some eight years ago.
    He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Frackville, and held membership in the Disabled Veterans Association.
    He survived by four sons: Robert J. of Plainfield, N.J; George J. of Indiantown Gap; Richard and Henry A., both at home; 2 daughters, Mae E., at home, and Edith M., wife of Robert Harris, Gordon; four brothers. Alfred S. Jr., Orwigsburg; Robert J., of Bristol; Charles, Reading; and Clarence N., Frackville; five sisters: Amelia, wife of Henry Wewar, Reading; Milldred, wife of Frank Balulis of Temple; Mrs. Elizabeth Dean, Frackville; Carrie, wife of Marvin Branstatter, of Shoemakersville; and Laura, wife of Gerald Rothacker, of Maryland; and two grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Hoppes Funeral Home, Third and Washington streets, Frackville. Rev. James L. Zimmerman of the Frackville Church of God, will officiate, and interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Frackville.
    Friends may call Monday evening at the funeral home. Robert F, Hoppes is the funeral director.

    Robert J. Mervine, 62, of Greenwood Avenue, Pottsville, died Thursday evening at home.
    Born in Silver Spring, Md., Aug. 24, 1942, he was a son of the late George and Edith Miller Mervine.
    He was raised in Frackville and was a 1960 graduate of Frackville High School He served his country in the Navy from 1961 to 1966.
    On Aug. 27, 1968, he married the former Ann E. Kellagher, who died Jan. 12, 2000.
    Until retiring in January 2002, he was employed as the food services director at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
    He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. In addition to his parents and his wife, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Harry.
    Surviving are a son, David R., Pottsville; two brothers, George and his wife, Blanche, Frackville, and Richard, Shenandoah; two sisters, Edith and her husband, Robert Harris, Gordon, and Mae Williams, Frackville; numerous nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home Inc., Sixth and West Market streets, Pottsville. Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady Calvary Cemetery, Hillside.

    Edith M. Harris, 62, of 664 Airport Road, Gordon, passed away Wednesday morning shortly after admission to Saint Catherine Medical Center, Fountain Springs.
    Born in Frackville, Nov. 18, 1944, she was a daughter of the late George and Edith Miller Mervine, Frackville. She was a 1963 graduate of Frackville High School.
    She was employed as a sewing machine operator for the former Locustdale Dress Factory until its closing.
    She spent her time with her family and enjoyed crafts and bingo, along with trips to Atlantic City.
    She was a member of Christ Congregational Church, Fountain Springs.
    She will rest in peace and be an angel among us.
    She was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne, in November 1964; two brothers, Henry and Robert Mervine.
    Surviving are her husband, Robert J. Harris Sr., to whom she was married 43 years; a son, Robert Harris Jr., husband of Julie, Gordon; a daughter, Christine Harris, fiancee of Jason Sutton, Frackville; two brothers, George "Junior" Mervine, husband of Blanche, and Richard Mervine, all of Frackville; a sister, Mae Williams, Frackville; grandchildren, Brandon M. and Nicolette M. Harris, both of Gordon; nieces and nephews.
    Memorial funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday from Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be the Rev. Donald L. Snyder, pastor of Christ Congregational Church, Fountain Springs. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday until the service. Memorials may be made to the Brandon Harris Muscular Dystrophy Fund, M&T Bank, 804 Centre St., Ashland, PA 17921. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Frackville.
