    Mr. James M. Troutman, 88, formally of Hebe, passed away Sunday, February 13th, peacefully, at Riverwoods Nursing Home, Lewisburg, PA.
    James was born Feb 1, 1923, in Lower Mahanoy Twp, a son of the late John O. and Daisy (Byerly) Troutman. He graduated from Lower Mahanoy Township High School in 1939. Also in 1939, he was married to the love of his life, the former Arabelle Bohner.
    He worked for American Novelty Works in Herndon for several years. He was drafted for service in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the 266th Engineers Combat Battalion, attached to the 66th Black Panthers Infantry Division from March 23, 1943 until March 1946, serving in England, France, Luxemburg, and Germany. He received two battle stars for the Northern France and Rhineland Battle Campaigns. After WWII he joined the carpenters union and worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 1985.
    James was an avid volunteer for several local organizations and churches. He was member of the Hickory Corners Fire Co, the Alvin Long American Legion, Mandata, a member of David's UCC, Hebe and sang in the church choir for 50 years. He also had a passion for Phillies baseball and singing at weddings.
    He was considered a pretty good baseball player, and had a try out for the New York Yankees, but did not quite make the cut.
    He is survived his wife, Arabelle Troutman, one brother Glenn O Troutman and his wife Janet of Selinsgrove, two brothers in-law, William Bohner and his wife Betty of Hebe, and Dean Bohner and his wife Dawn of Gettysburg, by one sister in-law Donna Keeley and her husband Larry of Lewisburg. He is also by several nieces and nephews.
    Memorial service will be held on March 19, 2011 at 11:00am at David's UCC in Hebe. James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow is in charge of the arrangements.
    Contributions may be made in James name to the David's UCC Memorial Fund, Herndon, PA.1

    He was born on January 17, 1922 in Middletown, PA to LeRoy John Sr. and Laura Mildred (Yeater) Spahr.
    LeRoy loved to play the guitar, and when he was 12 he sang on a public radio station in Harrisburg. He also went through the ranks of Boy Scouting, becoming an Eagle scout. In 1939, Leroy graduated from Middletown High School in Middletown, PA. He joined the Army Air Corp, graduating the Academy in Florida.
    Leroy married Shirley Kehres in 1944 and together they had one daughter, Sharon. In 1956, he and Shirley built a house in Elizabethtown, PA and lived there until moving to Midwest City, OK in 1966.
    Upon retiring, LeRoy was an avid golfer, enjoyed wood working, spending time with his family at his lake house in Eufaula, fishing, and traveling in his motor home. He even drove the motorhome to Alaska. He was very involved in his only grandson's, Zachary's, life.
    LeRoy was a member of the Legion of Honor unit of the Shriner's and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was involved with driving the children in need to the Shriner's hospital in Shreveport, LA, and flying the urgent cases to Philadelphia, PA.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Shirley Spahr; and life partner, Dorothy Walter; and son-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Blankenship. Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Blankenship; grandson, Zachary Blankenship and wife Melissa and their children, Vincent and Erin; daughter of life partner, Dorothy, Sarah Mayko and husband Glenn and their children Tina Sneeden, John Sneeden, and Joey Amico; and many other friends and family members who will miss him dearly.
    A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel. Interment will be held at Middletown Cemetery in Middletown, PA. Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.3
