    SHAMOKIN -- Mrs. Hattie Idella Lehman, 85, of 1021 E. Packer St. died last evening in the Shamokin State General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
    Born in Mount Carmel, April 24, 1899, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Sarah E. Klinger Harner.
    She was a resident of Shamokin since 1918. She married Harry William Lehman in 1918.
    Mrs. Lehman was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ, Shamokin.
    She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Mertz of Tharptown and Mrs. John Stout of Shamokin; eight grandchildren two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Romberger of Mount Carmel.
    The funeral will be conducted Monday in Shamokin.

    William Ellas Oswald, 50, one of this community's highly esteemed residents, died from a complication of diseases, yesterday afternoon at 5:20 o'clock at his home, 236 south Locust street.
    He was born in Hegins, a son of Juliann (Engle) Oswald and the late Henry Oswald.
    To survive, he leaves his wife, Ida Harner; a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Bender, of Harpers, and three sons, Albert and Marlin, at home, and William, of Masten.
    He also leaves his mother, who resides in Hegins; and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Sarah Sherry, of Pitman; Mrs. Bertha Furman, of Hegins; Dewey, of Hegins and Herman, of Jonestown.

    Marlin Oswald, 27, Husband Of Former Northumberland Girl, Dies In New Jersey.
    Marlin D. Oswald, 27, husband of the former Shirley Leppert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Leppert, Northumberland, died of burns Thursday at 4:15 p.m., two hours after he was trapped in the Pickatinny Ordnance Works, Dover, N. J., when a powder blending machine caught fire and exploded.
    Oswald, a native of Mt. Carmel. had been employed at the Army arsenal for five years, as a civilian employe.
    A veteran of Naval service during World War II, Oswald and Miss Leppert were married in 1947. Following his discharge from service they moved to Dover, where they have resided since. There are two children, Carolyn, five, and James, two.
    It was reported that the blast blew out one entire side of the building, and that Oswald was working near the center of the building when the fire broke out, Three other persons in the plant escaped.
    He was taken to Dover General Hospital, where he succumbed within two hours. He suffered second degree burns of the face and arms.
    Mr. and Mrs. Leppert left for Dover as scon as they received word of their son-in-law's death yesterday. Mr. Leppert operates stores in Northumberland and Mifflintown.
    FuneraL services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from R.L. Davis funeral home, Northumberland. Rev. Jesse K. Gunder. pastor of Camp Curtin Methodist Church, Harrisburg, formerly pastor of Northumberland Methodist Church, will officiate at the rites, with interment in West Side cemetery, Shamokin- Dam.
