    He was born in Pillow, Nov. 12, 1926, a son of the late Adam S. and Lottie C. Weaver Shiffer.
    He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served in Japan.
    He was the retired owner / operator for more than 60 years of Paul T. Shiffer and Sons Well Drilling (est. 1900).
    He was a member and former counsel member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Klingerstown.
    He was a member of the National Ground Water Association and president of the former Water Well Association (North East); former president of Klingerstown Fire Company and was the driving force in starting the Klingerstown parade; member of Pillow Fire Company and Pillow Rod and Gun Club.
    In the past, he served on the Tri-Valley School District school board and was a past social member of Gratz VFW.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Fred and Henry; a sister, Mary Byerly.
    Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Norma J. Davis Shiffer, at home; sons, Stephen P. (Anne) Shiffer, Divide, Colo., Randall K. (Brooke) Shiffer, Camp Hill, and Timothy T. (Cindy) Shiffer, Pillow; daughter, Lisa G. (Ken) Miller, Halifax; son, Matthew S. (Amanda) Shiffer, Pitman; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.
    Services were private and at the convenience of the family. Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes Inc., Elizabethville, handled the arrangements.
