  William I. Shadle, 69, Hegins, R.D D. 2, died late Wednesday afternoon of a heart ailment, while working in his fields.
  Born in Hegins, R. D. Mr. Shadle was the son of the late Joel and Sylvia Stutzman Shadle and was employed as a miner at Campbell Coal Co. until 12 years ago. He served in the U. S. Army during World War I and was a member of the Valley View Legion, Odd Fellows, and Christ United Church of Christ, Evangelical and Reformed, Fountain.
  Surviving are his wife, the former Susan Savidge; four children, Mrs. Pearl Shadle and Mrs. Wayne Shadle, Hegins R. D. Mrs. Elwood R. Snyder, Pitman, and Monroe, of Hegins R. D; two brothers, Victor and Arthur, of Hegins; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Noll and Mrs. William R. Steeley, both of Hegins, Mrs. Burd Bressler, Hegins, R, D. 2, Mrs. Martha Smeltz, Gratz, and Mrs. Albert Wolfgang, Hegins, R. D. 1; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services Saturday afternoon from the Christ United Church of Christ, E. and R., Fountain, with Rev. Russell Heintzleman, in charge. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
  Miller Funeral Home, Valley View, has charge of arrangements.

  Ethel F. Johnson, 102, of Vestal, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Lourdes Hospital. She was born August 27, 1914 in Reading, PA. She was the youngest of seven children born to Harvey and Mary Ann (Klinger) Fake. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Roy C. Johnson on December 27, 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne Rush, two grandchildren, Richard R. Rush and Lisa and husband Kevin Darling, two great-granddaughters, Kali Rush and Josie Darling, as well as several speacial nieces and nephews. She retired from Singe- Link. Ethel was very dedicated to her family and was lovingly called "Granny" by all. Private services were held at the convenience of the family.
