    He was also a member of Teamsters Union Local 469.
    Joe enjoyed crafts, traveling, playing cards and talking to his friends on the CB radio.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Guy T. Deibert; two brothers, Clarence Deibert and Leroy Deibert; and a sister, Helen Dunkle.
    He is survived by his wife, Jean L. Bixler Deibert, to whom he was married for 68 years; a son, Jay C. Deibert, Valley View; a grandson, Joseph Deibert, Annville; two granddaughters, Chrystal Deibert, Maryland, and Tiffany Lenker, Sacamento; two great-granddaughters, Mara Deibert and Elizabeth Deibert; two great-grandsons, Tyler Deibert and Joseph Lenker; nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Brian Beissel officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment will be made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.

    Born at RR1 Herndon, Jackson Township, on May 3, 1924, he was a son of the late William and Jennie (Wert) Gessner. He was united in marriage to the former Roxey A. Rothermel on Dec. 25, 1945.
    Mr. Gessner was a retired farmer and timberman and had been employed by Faylor-Middlecreek Inc. for 26 years, having worked as an equipment operator and later a foreman. He was last employed by Meckley's Limestone Products Inc.
    He was a member of the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church at Gratz, where he served on the church board for 45 years.
    He was educated in the Herndon area schools.
    He enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
    Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one daughter and son-in-law, Renee J. and John S. Shiko of Coal Township; three grandchildren, Carl, Calvin and Anthony Criley; four great-grandchildren, Amber, Zachery, Saxon and Aiden Criley; three sisters, Esther Maneval of RR3 Sunbury, Margaret Aurand of Northumberland and Violet Gessner of Gratz; one brother, Ralph Gessner of Pillow; nieces; and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by two sisters, Katie Gessner and Martha Lenig, and one brother, Samuel Gessner.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz, by the Rev. Timothy Dotson, his pastor. Visitors may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
    Burial will be in Emmanuel Wesleyan Cemetery, Gratz.2
