    Dorothy L Runkle, age 87, of Country Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Middletown, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Courtyard Gardens.
    She was born on Monday, May 15, 1933, in Spring Glen, a daughter of the late Chester Runkle and the late Pauline Schwalm Runkle.
    She was a graduate of the former Hubley Twp High School.
    Dot was an underwriter for Nationwide Insurance, Harrisburg, prior to her retirement.
    She attended the former St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Spring Glen and Progress Immanuel Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; and by three brothers, James Runkle, Charles "Lindy" Runkle, and Daniel Runkle.
    She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
    Due to current health concerns services will be private.
    Burial will be made in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen.
    Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

    Rena F. Hoffman, 80, of 1071 Ridge Road, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, where she was a patient for three weeks.
    She was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Lee and Lydia (Morgan) Miller. On March 9, 1995, she married Kenneth J. Hoffman, who survives.
    She was a 1947 graduate of Hegins Township High School.
    Rena was employed at the Gratz Factory, Shamokin Arrow Shirt Co., Stehr Bros. Mill, Amy's Sportswear, Spread Eagle Farms and Twin Valley Farmer's Exchange, Hegins.
    She was a member of Salem Church, of Rough and Ready, where she formerly served as an elder, consistory president, Sunday school teacher, junior choir director and choir member. She was a member and past president of the Mahantongo Valley Senior Citizens and was a past president of the Mahantongo PTO.
    She was a great cook and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and traveling, especially to the beach. She loved family gatherings, and her husband and family were most important to her.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Larry Klouser, of Valley View, and Joanne and Larry Snyder, of Pitman; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Haas, of Elysburg; five grandchildren, Jessica Klouser, of Philadelphia, Jennifer, wife of Randy Wehry, of Wellsville, Aaron and Lydia Snyder, both of Pitman, and Andrew Haas, of Washington D.C; four great-grandchildren, Grace, Emma, Luke and Jack Wehry, all of Wellsville; two sisters, Phyllis Bloch, of Valley View, and Marie Hepler, of Klingerstown; and nieces and nephews.
    Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating.
    Burial will be in Hepler's Church of God Cemetery, Pitman.
    The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, has charge of arrangements.
