    Born in Spring Glen, Hubley Township, Sept. 16, 1930, he was a son of the late Lawrence H. and Hannah K. Kimmel Artz. Mahlon graduated from Pottsville High School, class of 1948, and from Penn State University in 1959 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He received his master's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1968.
    He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 in the Seabees. He was a member of the Navy Seabee Veterans of America Lakes Region Island X-4, New Hampshire.
    Mahlon retired from Lockheed Sanders as senior principal engineer after 27 years of loyal service. He held a patent for the solid state electronic compass, which he invented for the Navy. He was a member of the Sanders Retirees Breakfast Club as well as the Nashua Republican City Committee. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, fixing cars, photography, wallyball and playing chess. He was very generous with his family and ready to help out in any way he could. Always sociable and helpful, he was continually giving of himself to others. Mahlon leaves behind many dear lifelong friends in both New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.
    He was preceded in death by a niece, Jacqui D. Artz; a sister-in-law, Mary Rosalie Crouse.
    Mahlon leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Dorothy B. Kuentzler Artz, Nashua; his beloved children, which include two sons, Jeffrey M. Artz, Los Angeles, Calif., and Lawrence A. Artz and his wife, Marianne, Nashua; two daughters, Cynthia S. Kelly and her husband, James, Nashua, and Stephanie K. Artz and her husband, Mark Howell, New York, N.Y; a brother, Ernest R. Artz, Schuylkill Haven; a sis ter, Linda Robinson, Florida; a special sister and brother-in-law, Harry and Joan Kuentzler Moyer and their family in Nashua; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Jonathan, Matthew and Katie Artz, Stephen and Christina Kelly and Martha Rutledge; nieces and nephews.
    Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Laurent Funeral Home, 116 Elm St., Nashua. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis de Gonzague Church, Nashua. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in New Hampshire Veteran's Cemetery, Boscawen, N.H.

    Lamar F. Artz, 92, of Pine Grove, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Hershey Medical Center.
    Born in Hegins, April 28, 1929, a son of the late Clarence and Irene Klouser Artz. He was a graduate of the former Tremont High School. Lamar served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.
    Lamar was a retired heavy equipment operator and had been a coal miner for many years.
    He enjoyed hunting, fishing and could often be found looking for "treasures" with his metal detector.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, John Artz and a brother Leroy Dinger.
    Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Dorothy E. Ney Artz; two sons, David Artz, Pine Grove and Russell Artz (Lori), Tower City; three grandchildren, Jessica, Sean and Lindsey Artz; five great grandchildren, Isabella, Sean David, Valerie, Zane and Maddox. Three brothers, Earl Dinger, Newtown, Richard Dinger, Donaldson and Jerry Dinger, Molleystown. One sister, Mary Ferrebee, Pine Grove, nieces and nephews.
    Lamar will be laid to rest privately with Military Honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

    Mr. Artz was born in Williamstown, a son of the late Raymond and Verna Brown Artz. He resided in the Minersville area most of his life.
    He was a member of St. Vincent de. Paul's Church, Minersville; the Minersville Area Lions and the Independent Insurance Agents' Association.

    He was born on Thursday, April 12, 1927, in Pottsville, a son of the late Eston C Artz and the late Mae (Dunleavy) Artz.
    He attended the former Hubley Twp High School and received his honorary diploma for service during World War II from Tri-Valley High School in 2002.
    He served in the US Army during World War II.
    Mark was an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co, until his retirement.
    He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.
    He was also a member of FandAM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View, Harrisburg Consistory, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Millersburg Forrest 125.
    Mark and his wife Phyllis received the Rotary Co-Citizen of the Year award in 2002.
    Mark was one of the original ambulance drivers when the Hegins Ambulance Association began in the 1970's. He also helped to design the ambulance building.
    Mark was a lifelong Phillies fan. He enjoyed taking trips to the cabin and the shore, and spending time with his family. He and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the country; they visited all of the lower 48 states.
    His wife Phyllis L (Wagner) Artz, to whom he was married for 70 years, passed away one week prior to him on, November 25, 2020.
    He was also preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Warren E Artz; and by his beloved dog Odie.
    He is survived by a daughter, Debra L Barry and her husband Richard of Hegins; a son, M. Steven Artz and his husband Thomas C Strickler of State College; two grandsons, Thomas E Barry and his wife Hayley of Valley View, and Phillip M Barry and his wife Alyssa of Valley View; four great-grandsons, Connor Barry, Caleb Barry, Carter Barry, and Cooper Barry; a great-granddaughter, Riley Barry; and one niece and one nephew.
    Funeral services for both Mark and Phyllis will be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Duane Bardo and Rev. Jack Murray officiating. Please follow CDC COVID-19 guidelines for the service.
    Masonic services for Mark will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday at the church. A viewing for both Mark and Phyllis will following the Masonic service from noon until 1 p.m.
    Burial will be made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.
    Memorial contributions can be made to Hegins Area Ambulance Association, 352 Gap Street, Valley View, PA 17983.
