    Harvey E. Pletcher, 58, a farmer north of Wakarusa, died Saturday morning of Bright's disease and complications. He has been seriously ill for a week, but had been failing in heath since the first of the year. He was born in Clinton Township, east of Goshen, on August 31, 1879, the son of Abram and Elizabeth (Weaver) Pletcher.
    He married Nora Schwalm on March 7, 1901, at the home of her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. H.M. Schwalm. They loved in Goshen 19 years, and for 16 years he was employed at the Goshen Milling Co. The Pletchers moved seven years ago to the farm a mile and a half north of Wakarusa.
    He leaves his widow; three sons, Harold of Binghamton, N.Y. and Donald and Howard, who attended Manchester college; his father, aged 88, who has been an invalid since last Thanksgiving, when he broke his hip; two sisters, Mrs. Will Weaver of Goshen, and Mrs. Charles Cripe of Argos, and two brothers, William E. and Arthur, both of Goshen. His mother died two years ago. He had been a member of the Church of the Brethren for 40 years.
    Funeral services were held Monday, with a service at 1:30 pm at the home, in charge of the Rev. Earl Nusbaum, and a service at 2:30 at the Rock Run Church, East of Goshen, in charge of the Rev. Burton Metzler, assisted by the Rev. Harvey Bowers. Burial in the adjoining cemetery.

    Howard W. Pletcher, 81, of 65425 CR 3, Wakarusa passed away on Monday, November 1, 1999 in his residence. Mr. Pletcher was born on June 14, 1918 in Goshen to Harvey and Nora (Schwalm) Pletcher. On October 27, 1940 at Elkhart City Church he married Betty (Buchanan) Pletcher, she survives. Surviving along with his wife is one daughter Jean Pletcher of Chicago, Illinois Three sons Howard R. Pletcher of Ft. Wayne, Phillip Pletcher of Denison, Iowa, and Stanley Pletcher of Wakarusa Two brothers Harold Pletcher of Clear Water, Florida and Donald Pletcher of Ashville, North Carolina. Mr. Pletcher was a farmer and worked at the former Stewarts Drug Store in Wakarusa many years ago. He was the owner of Pletcher Hardware, (now known as Wakarusa Hardware) from 1973-1990 when he retired. He was a member of Baugo Church of the Brethren, a 1936 graduate of Wakarusa High School, and attended Manchester College. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Memorial service at Baugo Church of the Brethren at 1:30PM on Thursday, November 4 with Pastor Arnold Dietz of Baugo Church of the Brethren presiding. Burial taking place at Olive (West) Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Baugo Church of the Brethren or the National Kidney Foundation.

    Dr. Donald Eugene Pletcher, 91, of 506 Cokesbury Lane, Givens Estate, died October 14, 2006. Dr. Pletcher was born June 6, 1915 in Goshen, Indiana to Harvey Pletcher and Nora Schwalm Pletcher. After graduating from Wakarusa High School and Manchester College in Indiana, he received a doctorate in Chemistry from Ohio State University in 1941. He married Aletha BonDurant on September 10, 1938. Dr. Pletcher had a 40-year career with Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan, Indianapolis, Indiana and overseas in the Netherlands and Italy. Following initial laboratory research on organo-silicon products, he was involved in a wide range of research and development prior to his move into executive management as Director of New Ventures related to health care products and services. Upon retiring from Dow Chemical Company in 1980, Dr. Pletcher and his wife, Aletha, moved to Laure Park, NC where he was active in Kiwanis and other civic and church organizations. He was chairman of the Education Work Area Committee of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church and was on the board and responsible for long range planning for the Interfaith Assistance Ministry in Hendersonville. He served on the Laurel Park Planning Board for ten years and was chairman for three years. Also, he served on an Oversight Committee that was instrumental in drafting a Comprehensive Land Use Plan for Henderson County. In December 1995, he and his wife moved to Givens Estates in Asheville and became members of Biltmore United Methodist Church where he was actively involved. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Aletha BonDurant Pletcher; a daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Paul Bates formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son and his wife, Stephen and Janet Pletcher of Prides Crossing, MA; a daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Jay Coogan of Cranston, RI; a grandson and his wife, William and Milena Dixon of Corte Madera, CA; a grandson, Brian Pletcher of Prides Crossing, MA; two great grandchildren, Adam and Eliza Coogan of Cranston, RI; and two great grandchildren, Will and Natalia Dixon of Corte Madera, CA. Two brothers preceded Dr. Pletcher in death. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Norma F. Pulliam Chapel, Givens Estates United Methodist Retirement Community. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.2
