    Robert Paul Schaeffer, 72, of Zerbe, Reilly Township, died on Monday at Temple University Hospital.
    Born on August 16,1950 in Good Spring, Porter Township, he was a son of the late Irvin and Elizabeth Saltzman Schaeffer. He was educated in Porter-Tower Schools and worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for several companies, including Rick’s Backhoe Service, Universal Express and Miners Fuel.
    He was an active volunteer of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and School, Minersville and also enjoyed working with the ladies in the kitchen at St. Nicholas Hall. An avid sportsman, Bob was a charter member of the Little Run Sportsman Club and a member of both Minersville Fish & Game and Saint Clair Fish & Game. He was also a member of the Newtown Fire Company and the Forestville Fire Company.
    Bob spent many Holiday seasons as Santa Claus for local businesses and holiday events. He spent many hours fishing on the Susquehanna River with his family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking, trap shooting, camping, auto racing and jarring. Most of all Bob enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren, Landon & Alexis.
    No matter where Bob traveled, he always seemed to know somebody and make new friends.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lamar Schaeffer and George Schaeffer.
    Bob is survived by his wife, the former JoAnne M. DelBalso, with whom he would have celebrated 35 years of marriage on New Years Eve; three children, Bobbi Lynn Schaeffer, Schuylkill Haven, Brad Schaeffer, Schuylkill Haven, and Sherri Quandel (spouse, Jeff), Branch Township; two grandchildren, Landon Mattern and Alexis Padelsky; and an “adopted granddaughter” Emily Purcell as well as his feline buddy Tux. He is also survived by two brothers, William Schaeffer (spouse, Patricia), Lykens, and Thomas Schaeffer (spouse, Catherine), Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.
    The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Saturday, August 19, from 6:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M.     He was born on October 3, 1979 in Pottsville, PA the son of David Hoffman and Sonya (Snyder) Hoffman.
    Michael attended Halifax High School.
    He loved spending time with his son, and he loved fixing things, and had a great sense of humor. He spent more time helping other people than he did for himself. Michael was deeply loved and will be truly forever missed.
    In addition to his parents Sonya and David Hoffman, he is survived by his son Dereck Hoffman, brothers Jason Hoffman and Matthew Hoffman (Jess Dreibelbis), nephew Connor and a niece Madison.
