    COAL TOWNSHIP- The Rev. George F. "Fritz" Bowman, 83, went to meet his Lord and Saviour at 8:55 a.m. June 8, 2010, surrounded by his loving family and friends at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he was a guest for six years.
    He was born Sept. 22, 1926 in Coal Township, the eldest child of the late George and Josephine (Nye) Bowman. He was married to the former Adrian Dzienisiewicz, who preceded him on Jan. 6, 2007. They shared more than 62 years of marriage.
    Fritz attended Coal Township schools a and served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946.
    He worked in the coal industry for many years and was an independent coal hauler before his employment with Conrail.
    He was the pastor of Dornsife Fellowship Church, Dornsife for more than 30 years.
    Fritz was well known for his outstanding singing and musical ability, entertaining throughout Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
    One of his greatest pleasures was being with his children and grandchildren. He loved all children and was known as Uncle Fritz to so many of them. He had a very giving heart and loved helping others whenever there was a need.
    Fritz is survived by one son, Ronald Bowman, of Coal Township; three daughters, Joann Bagshaw, of Enola, Mary Hupp and her husband Harold, of Selinsgrove, and Diana Kehres and her companion, Paul Warren, of Vero Beach, Fla; six grandchildren, Rosemary Bowman, Roxanne Spearman, Gregory Kehres, Ronald Bowman Jr., Christopher Hupp and Ashley Bagshaw; also five greatgrandchildren, Jacqueline and Jacob Spearman, Tessa Bowman, Sabrina Beasley and Landon Hupp. He is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Lippay and Terrill Berkheiser, and one brother, Rev. John "Jack" Bowman, and many nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded by one brother, Richard Bowman, and two sisters, Helen Schlagle and Barbara Welker.
    Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Mountainside Assembly of God Church, 1900 Trevorton Road, Coal Township, where the funeral will take place at 11, with Rev. Richard Earl officiating.
    Burial will be in the Odd Fellow's Cemetery, Shamokin.
    The family has entrusted arrangements to Farrow Funeral Directors, Sixth and Chestnut streets, Shamokin.

    Phyllis M. “Pay” Lippay, 87, of 1725 W. Holly Street, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on June 29, 2020, after fighting a courageous battle with COPD.
    Phyllis was born in Coal Township, November 7, 1932, a daughter of the late George and Josephine (Nye) Bowman.
    Phyllis was a graduate of Coal Township High School, Class of 1950 and excelled in academics and athletics.
    On July 20, 1951, in Hagerstown MD., she married her husband, Edward Lippay.
    Phyllis last worked as a patient care coordinator at the Mountain View Manor.
    Phyllis was a lifetime resident of Coal Township. She was a former board member of the Shamokin Area School District, always acting in the best interests of the local community. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines and the barber shop quartet the Coalettes, and enjoyed competing state-wide. She enjoyed listening to and singing on SingSnap. She was a care-giver for many years for her mother-in-law, Mary Lippay, and brothers Dick and Fritz Bowman.
    She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by her husband, Edward Lippay; two daughters, Marilyn Polyniak, of Coal Township, and Terrill (Terri) Sanchez and husband, Daniel, of Dillsburg; two sons, Edward Lippay, Jr. and wife Pamela, of Shamokin, and Richard Lippay and wife Virginia, of Coal Township; eight grandchildren, Kristie Hilkert, of Danville, Mary Wilson, Vanessa Lippay and Christian Lippay of Shamokin, Jessica Sobol and Madison Lippay of Coal Township, and Michael Savidge of Harrisburg and Brian Savidge of Mechanicsburg; one brother, John (Jack) Bowman of Middleburg, and one sister Terrill (Terri) Berkheiser of Shamokin; 6 great-grandchildren, Trent and Sarah Hilkert of Danville, Leah and Michaela Wilson of Shamokin, Michael Savidge of Harrisburg and Ronnie Sobol of Coal Township; and many nieces and nephews.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Josephine Bowman; three sisters, Helen Schlagle, Barbara Welker and Madeline Moser; two brothers, George (Fritz) and Richard (Dick) Bowman; and son-in-law Daniel Polyniak.
    A religious funeral service will be held on Friday July 10th, 2020 at 11:00 AM at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township, with Reverend Richard Earl presiding. A visitation will be held on Friday July 10th, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of service.     Rev. John R. Bowman, 86, Middleburg
    Rev. John R. "Jack" Bowman, 86, of Middleburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. His passing was a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
    He was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Shamokin, a son of the late George F. and Josephine (Nye) Bowman. On Feb. 20, 1954, he married the former Nancy M. Rubendall who preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 2019.
    He was employed for many years as an equipment operator with PennDOT. He also served pastoring churches. Jack started the God's Missionary Church in 1 Seffner, Florida, and served as assistant pastor in Shamokin God's Missionary Church, and the Sherwood Forest Echoes of Calvary in Florida. After his retirement, he served as a supply pastor.
    He was a member of the Beavertown God's Missionary Church.
    Jack was a self-taught mechanic and gifted fixer-upper. He faithfully testified of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, both in person and on the internet.
    Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Anita Bowman of Middleburg, Daniel and Patricia Bowman and Mark and Cindy Bowman, all of Mifflinburg; a daughter, Mary Kay Carter of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, John (Seraphina) Bowman, James Bowman, Shannon Bowman, Erin (Jason) Sauers, Taylor (Jason) Fenton, Trevor Bowman, and Melissa Cooper; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander, Saffire, Lo- gan, Cassady, Lyra, Zayden, Jay, Aja, and Taliah; one sister, Terri Berkheiser of Shamokin; and many nieces, nephews and great and nephews who he dearly loved.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers, George "Fritz" Bowman and Richard Bowman; and three sisters, Barbara Welker, Phyllis Lippay, and Helen Jean Schlagle.
    A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at Beavertown God's Missionary Church, 1653 Creek Road, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with Rev. James Plank, Rev. Solomon Shaffer, and Rev. Matt Maloyed officiating.
    Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Penns Creek.
    Contributions to honor Jack's memory may be made to the Beavertown God's Missionary Church Youth Group, P.O. Box 2, Beavertown, PA 17813.

    Richard G. Bowman, 72
    KULPMONT - Richard G. Bowman, 72, of 652 Pine St., Kulpmont, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at the home of his sister and brother-inlaw, Phyllis and Ed Lippay, who had been his caregivers. He had been ill for 3½ months and was periodically hospitalized at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    Born Sept. 24, 1928, in Coal Township, he was a son of the late George and Josephine (Nye) Bowman.
    He was a Kulpmont resident since 1952.
    He attended school in the Coal Township school district.
    From 1946 to 1948, Bowman served in the United States Army, where he served an overseas duty in Japan.
    Mr. Bowman was a driver for Arrow Carrier Co. and Hall's Trucking Co.
    As a young man, he was a hard coal miner. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Sportsman Club: and East End Fire Co., all of Kulpmont.
    He was also a member of Fairview Fire Co., the Fairview Gun Club, Overseas Veterans of Kulpmont and the Pennsylvania's Sheriffs Association.
    Surviving are a son, Gary and his wife Pam, Danville RD; a daughter, Bonny Lou Hague, Baltimore, Md; two brothers: Rev. George Bowman and his wife Adrian, Coal Township; and Rev. John Bowman and his wife Nancy, Kissimmee, Fla; two sisters: Mrs. Ed (Phyllis) Lippay, Coal Township; and Terri Berkheiser, Coal Township; six grandchildren, including William Bowman, The Danville News sports editor, and Keith Bowman; and five great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death in 1968 by his wife, the former Lorraine Orlando, to whom he was wed in 1950 in Kulpmont. Also preceding him in death was a son, Barry, who died in 1968.
    Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday from the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, with the Rev. Richard Earl, pastor of the Mountainside Assembly of God Church in Trevorton, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Kulpmont. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 1541 ALTA Drive, Whitehall, 18100.

    Mrs. Madeline Wark, 72, Shamokin SHAMOKIN - Mrs. Madeline Moser Wark, 72, a seamstress, of 105 S. Franklin St., died Wednesday in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for five weeks.
    Born in Shamokin, March 3, 1 1915, she was a daughter of the late George and Goldie (Troutman) Gusick Bowman. She was first married to Harry Adams, who preceded her in death. Her second marriage was to Chester Moser, who preceded her in death. In 1978, she married Robert Wark.
    Mrs. Wark was a seamstress and dry cleaning manager at Berkhart and Dressner in Ephrata, where she lived for 27 years. She graduated from Shamokin High School in 1933.
    She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Shamokin, AARP and the Senior Citizens.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Harry E. Adams of Severn, Md., Robert T. Adams of Longwood, Fla., and Richard Moser of Washington Borough; four grandchildren; and six half brothers and sisters, the Rev. George Bowman, Mrs. Phyllis Lippay, Mrs. Barbara Welker and Terri Berkheiser, all of Shamokin, Richard Bowman of Kulpmont and John Bowman of Penns Creek.
    The funeral will be conducted Saturday in Shamokin.

    Nancy M. Bowman, 82, of Middleburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
    She was born July 17, 1936, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Motter) Rubendall. On Feb. 20, 1954, she married the Rev. John R. "Jack" Bowman who survives. Her passing breaks a marital union of 65 years.
    She attended Coal Township School.
    Nancy's passions in life were her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed collecting cookbooks, listening to music, birdwatching, and watching the snow fall.
    In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John R. Sr. and Anita Bowman of Middleburg, Daniel T. and Patricia Bowman of Mifflinburg, and Mark S. and 82, Middleburg one daughter, MaryKay Carter of Easley, S.C; two brothers, James Rubendall of Maggie Valley, N.C., and Robert Rubendall of Coal Township; one sister, Doris Wallish of Bensalem; seven grandchildren and their spouses, John R. and Seraphina Bowman, James A. Bowman, Shannon R. Bowman, Erin D. and Jason Sauers, Taylor L. and Jason Fenton, Cindy Bowman of Mifflinburg; Trevor J. Bowman, and Melissa L. Cooper; four great-grandchildren, Alexander Sewell, Saffire Barber, Logan Sauers, and Cassady Bowman.
    She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Rubendall; one sister, Jean Newbury; and granddaughter-in-law Jana. Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral at 2, at Beavertown God's Missionary Church, 1693 Creek Road, Middleburg, with the Rev.

    James Plank officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Penns Creek. Contributions in Nancy's memory may be made to the Missions Fund of Beavertown God's Missionary Church, 1693 Creek Road, Middleburg, PA 17842.
