  Mary Jane Straub, 88, of Herndon, passed away on December 24, 2023, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born in Rough and Ready on January 24, 1935, a daughter of the late Tamie and Clayton Snyder. Mary worked as a seamstress for many years. She was a member of David's UCC, Hebe. Mary loved her family and enjoyed quilting, gardening and baking. She was know for her chow chow and apple butter.
  Mary is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Ann) Straub of Sunbury, Lynn (Kim) Straub of Herndon, Larry (Kelly) Straub of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Adam (Maggie), Shane, Michael; three great-grandchildren, Miley, Alyssa, Dalton. She was preceded in death by husband, Lee Straub in 2016, and six brothers, Clayton, Truman, Thomas, Carl, Lee and Mark.
  A viewing will be held on December 30, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00 am at the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow. Interment will take place in the David's Church Cemetery, Hebe.³

  Mrs. Hattie B. Hoffman, wife of Guerney Hoffman, Elizabethville R. D., died Thursday morning at her home. She was 48 years old and in addition to her j husband, is survived by three children, Lester, Lee and Anna, all at home; her father, Oscar Wentzel, Elizabethville R. D; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Snoke, Her-shey, and a brother, Irvin Wentzel, Halifax.
  Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Hover Funeral home, Berrysburg, with the Rev. W. E. Wagner, pastor of the Pillow Lutheran Church, of which she was a member, officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Pillow.
