    Born in Elizabethville, Nov. 24, 1914, she was a daughter of the late James and Amanda Zimmerman Lentz.
    Pearl retired as a seamstress from the garment industry.
    She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; and a daughter, Jean Bressler.
    Surviving are a son-in-law, Clair Bressler, New Holland; two grandsons, Thomas and Timothy Bressler; four great-grandchildren, Justin, Erin, Ashton and Rachel; a great-great-grandson, Alexander James; a sister-in-law, Dora Wertz, Muir; nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, with the Rev. Edward Gobrecht. Interment will be in Methodist Cemetery, Muir. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Dietrich Avenue, Orwin, PA 17980.     Garvin S. Bixler, Former Fire Boss, Dies at Muir, Friday
    Garvin S. Bixler, well known for many years as a fire boss at Brookside colliery, died at his home at Muir on Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock. Although he had been compelled to give up his employment at the colliery last December, because of miners' asthma, he was able to be about, and only took to his bed two days before his death, but his decline was rapid, owing to the development of pneumonia.
    Garvin Sylvester Bixler was a son of John Bixler and wife, nee Ellen Buyer. He was born in Hegins Township on July 16, 1883, but had resided at Muir for the past thirty years where he was well known and highly esteemed. Surviving are his mother, living at Pottsville; one sister, Mrs Lillian Miller, of Tremont; his wife and the followng children: Mary E., wife of Reno Moser, Martha, wife of Charles Sehaeffer, Margaret, wife of William Miller, John, Anna, wife of Arthur Weaver, all of Muir; Chester, Eugene, Garvin, Walter, Joseph, Arthur and Dora, all at home.
    He was a member of the Reformed Church, active in its work, and was an elder of the St. Peter's congregation at Orwin. He served in the Philippine Islands during the Spanish American War, and was accorded military funeral by members of the American Legion, Harry Heartter Post. Fraternally he was a member of the United Mine Workers, The Knights of Pythias and the Jr. O. U. A. M., of Muir.
    Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home. The remains were taken to St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Orwin where services were conducted by Rev. C. E. Heffleger, the pastor, assisted by Rev. H. M. Mentzer, pastor of the United Brethren Church of Valley View.
    Interment was made in the Evangelical cemetery at Muir, with funeral director Dreisigacker in charge.

    Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Clair L., to whom she was married 54 years; two sons, Thomas L. Bressler, Virginia, and Timothy S. Bressler and his wife, Dawn, Media; four grandchildren, Justin, Erin, Ashton and Rachel.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. Interment will be in Methodist Cemetery, Muir. A viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel. Memorial contributions in her name should be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 E. Main St., New Holland, PA 17557.
