    — LYKENS — Alma Mae (Rothermel) Klinger, 89, of the Polk Foundation, formerly of Schoaf Buck Road, Lykens, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2014, in Harrisburg Hospital.
    She was born March 3, 1925, in Erdman, a daughter of the late Mary C. (Shaffer) Rothermel Phillips and Charles E. Rothermel. She was married to Ernest Luther Klinger, who passed away Oct. 30, 2011. They celebrated 65 years of marriage.
    Alma was employed as a seamstress at DorMar Manufacturing, Gratz, and after retiring, she transported Amish to various places and appointments for many years.
    She was a member of Zion Lutheran “Klingers” Church, where she was the president of the Rainbow Class for many years and served as secretary of the Sunday school. She was member and past noble grand of Rebekah Lodge 58, Dornsife, and Order of Eastern Star 425, Lykens.
    For many years, Alma took part in the entertainment for the Pennsylvania Dutch Fersommling. She loved crocheting and playing bingo and once a month would hold a Pennsylvania Dutch class at Polk. She was proud to have been voted the 2013 valentine queen at Polk. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be remembered for her visits to friends and family during illnesses.
    Alma is survived by one daughter, Mary C. Leitzel, of Mechanicsburg; one son, Stephen E. Klinger, of Lykens; one nephew, Edwin L. Herb, whom Alma and Ernest raised as a son; one grandson, Michael E. Leitzel; and three great-grandchildren, Seth M., John P. and Sarah A. Leitzel.
    She was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Schwalm; two brothers, Nevin and Guy Rothermel; one stepsister, Mae Hoffman; and one stepbrother, George Phillips.
    A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Jonathan Jenkins officiating.
    Interment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens, Halifax.
