    CAMP HILL - George E. Carl, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his residence.
    He was born July 3, 1922, in Herndon, a son of the late James and Bertha (Zeiders) Carl. He was married for 67 years to the former Helen Dockey, who survives.
    He was a 1940 graduate of Lower Mahanoy Township High School.
    George served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. He served in the European Theater as an engineer with the 10th Mountain Division, and the 1st Armored Division. He was awarded the American Campaign medal, the European Theater Service medal with two Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory medal and the Good Conduct medal.
    George retired from Agway.
    He was a member of Zion Stone Valley Church, Hickory Corners, a life member of the American Legion Post 504, Mandata, and founding and life member of Hickory Corners Fire Company.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Donald O. Carl of Camp Hill and G. Frank and Jan Carl of Charlotte, N.C; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie M. and Larry Wolfe of New Cumberland and Dianne L. and Dave Ardan of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren and spouses, Dawn Phillips, Brian Carl, Trica Wolfe, Sonja and Scott Sleister, Christine Wolfe, Tyler Carl, Katie and Jeff Kozloff and Jeff Ardan; six great-grandchildren, Donald Benedict, Casey Benedict, Cody Brock, Bailey Sleister, Hunter Phillips and Olivia Kozloff; four brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Gwen Carl of Montoursville, Dean and Lila Carl of Herndon, John Carl of Herndon and Larry and Norma Carl of Herndon; one sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Robert Rebuck of Herndon; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Carl of Millersburg and Gladys Dockey of New York.
    He was preceded in death by his in-laws, John and Katie (Schaeffer) Dockey, three brothers, Henry, Ralph "Rollie", and Freddie Carl, and one brother-in-law, Dean Dockey.
    A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Stone Valley Church, Hickory Corners, followed by a funeral service at 2 with the Rev. Sherry Elliot officiating.
    Burial will be in Stone Valley Cemetery, RR1, Dalmatia.
    Donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the VNA, 3315 Derry St., Harrisburg, PA 17111 or Zion Stone Valley Parish Fund, HC 68, Box 61, Dalmatia, PA 17017.
    Funeral arrangements are by Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
