  • MILLERSBURG - Alphus S. Klinger I, 69, of Millersburg RD 2, died Friday, July 6 during a heart operation in Harrisburg Hospital.
    A retired employee of the New Cumberland Army Depot, he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a former member of the church council.
    The World War II Air Force veteran was a member of the Susquehanna Lutheran Village Volunteers Association, the Evelyn G. Frederick Health Center, the 95th Bomb Group Association, the Steever R. Day Post 326 American Legion, the Blaine G. Walter Jr. Post 5507 VFW, the Susquehanna Lodge 369 F&AM, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Millersburg Forest 125, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Right Valley of Harrisburg Consistory, the Pleasant Hill Grange in Killinger and the Historical Society of Millersburg and Upper Paxton Twp.
    Survivors include his wife, Helen W. Klinger; two daughters, Dr. Linda M. Isaacson-Wells of New Haven, Conn., and Chrisann K. Fulkroad of Millersburg; five sons, Alphus S. II, Gary E. and Matthew E. of Millersburg; Broderick A. of Arlington and Carlton A. of Landisville; his mother, Mary Klinger of Camp Hill; two sisters, Carolyn Lenhart and Betty Jane Epenshade of Harrisburg; two brothers, Mark of Harrisburg and Donald of Florida and 11 grandchildren.
    Services were held Tuesday, July 10 at Hoover Funeral Homes, Millersburg, with burial following in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Lutheran Village Volunteer Memorial Fund, 990 Medical Road, Millersburg 17061.7

    She was the widow of Charles E. Espenshade. Surviving are a son, David C. of Grantville; a sister; two brothers, and two stepgrandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11: 30 a.m. Monday in her church. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
    Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the church.

    Surviving are her son and his wife, Charles J. Jr. and Gail P. Lenhart of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Donald C. "Jack" Klinger of Winter Haven, FL; two grandchildren, Evelyn M. and Eric M. Lenhart.
    A viewing will be held 6 – 8 PM Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp., at the convenience of the family.

    She was a graduate of Elizabethtown College; was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Millersburg, where she was former vice-president of the church; member of the sewing circle of the church and served on the Evangelism committee; member of OES Glen Chapter No. 425; past board member of Millersburg Senior Center; former president of ABWA and was chosen woman of the year; member of Harrisburg Foreign Policy Association; VFW #5507 Ladies Auxiliary; former member of advisory board of the former Woodside Juvenile Detention Center; volunteer in Habitat for Humanity; former officer of Goodwill Industries; member of Millersburg and Upper Paxton historical society.
    She was the widow of Alphus S. Klinger.
    Surviving are two daughters, Linda M. Wells of Whitefish Bay, WI and Chrisann Fulkroad of Harrisburg; five sons, Alphus II and Gary, both of Millersburg, Brodrick of Arlington, VA, Andy of Elizabethtown, and Matthew of Halifax; 12 grandchildren; and a great- granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother, Guy M. Watts II.
    Services were be held at the Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., in Millersburg, at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 19. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
