    Harry Jack Klinger
    November 11, 1930 ~ August 6, 2026
Harry Jack Klinger, age 95, of Thompson, Ohio, passed away peacefully August 6, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 11, 1930 in Warsaw, Indiana, to Thelma (Barnum) Klinger and Ivan R. Klinger. He was married to Jean Elizabeth Klinger (Gottfried) on May 21, 1965.They were together for 47 years and together they had one child.
Harry, who went by his middle name, Jack, served in the Marine Corps during the Korean war as a link trainer operator and instructor, he went on to attain the rank of Staff Sergeant. Afterwards, he moved to the Cleveland area, from his home in Warsaw Indiana, to begin a welding career with Lincoln Electric, where he later moved up to take on the role of a Lab Technician. Jack settled down in Thompson Ohio with his wife Jean Klinger.
Jack was a devout Christian and an active person in the community who lived a life of service. He spent time as a volunteer fire fighter and he regularly took kids from the church to bible studies and to outings with his son and later his grandchildren. In addition to attending church, he made trips to attend the March for Life, and gave his time and resources to causes he believed in. Jack loved aviation and kept up with flying after the service and held a small aircraft license. In retirement, he’d often be seen walking for miles in the morning wearing his welders hats, picking up trash off the side of the road, continuing his acts of service later in his life. Jack loved being a grandfather and was known as being very involved in his grandchildren’s lives, always trying to find ways to help his grandchildren achieve and succeed for their future.
He is survived by his son and daughter in-law, James Keith Klinger and Katherine Klinger (Maressa); his grandchildren, James Carl Klinger, Rebecca Jean Canterbury, and Elizabeth Munitz; and his two great-grandchildren, Harvey Wayne Norman and Harper Jean Munitz.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife; Jean (Gottfried) Klinger and his parents. Jean Klinger (Wife), Ivan R. Klinger (Father), Thelma Barnum (Mother).
A Celebration of Harry’s life takes place on August 15th, 11:30am, at the Thompson Church on the square.
