    Clarence A. Knorr, Died At Shamokin
    Clarence Allen Knorr, 74, of 316 East Cameron Street, Shamokin, a native of Leck Kill, died Monday of last week at his home after suffering an acute heart seizure a short time earlier. He had not previously been ill.
    The former Leck Kill resident, who had also lived in Paxinos, RD, before moving to Shamokin in 1943, was currently employed as a janitor [sic] in the former McConnell building, and the Red Cross Chapters headquarters at Shamokin.
    Born in Leck Kill December 31, 1886, Mr. Knorr was a son of the late Oscar and Elizabeth Maurer Knorr. He was educated in the elementary schools in Klingerstown, RD, and was married December 24th, 1908, in the Lutheran Parsonage at Leck Kill, to the former Jennie Kahler. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Leck Kill, the Sunday School class of St. Peter's Church, Overlook, and Ralpho Fire Company, Overlook.
    Survivors include the widow; two sons, Staff Sergeant, Howard Knorr, of Great Falls, Mont., and Willard, of Sunnyside; two daughters, Mrs. William Zimmerman, of Williamsport, and Mrs. John Coppersmith, Imperial Beach, Calif; six grandchildren;; [sic] one brother, Herbert Knorr, of Pitman, and one sister, Miss Florence Knorr, Klingerstown, RD.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Friday from the Lawrence E. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, RD, with Rev. Sterling P. Martz, United Church of Christ Pastor at Shamokin, officiating. Burial was in the United Church of Christ Cemetery, Leck Kill.1

    ELYSBURG -- Merle E. "Sam" Hoy, 58, of Pernn Avenue, died Monday evening in his home.
    Born Dec.. 25, 1915, in Shamokin he was a son of the late John and Vera Albright Hoy. He was married in 1941 to the former Sara Sevilla Zimmerman who died in 1972.
    He was employed, as an inspector at Kennedy Van Saun, Dnaville [Danville], and retired several years ago.
    He was a member of Jacob United Church of Christ and the Elysburg Fire Company.
    Surviving are the following children; George of Overlook, William of Elysburg. Mrs. Richard Woodruff of Danville RD5, Mrs. Larry Snyder of Paxinos, and John at home; five grandchildren; a brother, John Hoy of Midwest City, Okla; three sisters, Mrs. Elwood Sherman of Shamokin, Mrs. Earl Hendricks of Stonington, and Mrs. John Raynor of Baltimore, Md.
    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of a Shamokin funeral director.3
