Mrs. Harry Reigle, Irish Valley, Dies
Mrs. Emma Jane Reigle, Irish Valley, Shamokin R.D. 2, died at her home Sunday at 7:45 a. m., following an illness of the past year. She was 65 years of age.
She had been in ill health since July, 1953 and had been a patient Community Hospital for a period of three months early this year.
Born August 18, 1890 in Shamokin, Mrs. Reigle was a daughter of the late Monroe and Hattie Culp Bowman. She was a member the Irish Valley Methodist Church. Her death breaks a marital union of 48 years.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Reigle, three children, LeRoy Reigle, Irish Valley; Mrs. Alice Snyder, Harrisburg, and Mrs. Grant an unknown place ewis, Irish Valley; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Fred Campbell, Irish Valley; Mrs. Atwater Eveland, Shamokin; Henry Bowman, Trevorton, and Charles Bowman, Shamokin . A daughter, Nellie, succumed in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the Wirt Funeral Home, Cliftmont, in charge of Rev. Daniel Koon, Trevorton Methodist minister. Burial will be in the Pine Hill cemetery, Elysburg, Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday night.

Member of Rural School Board Dies
Leroy A. Reigle, 48, Irish Valley, treasurer of Shamokin Township Board of Education, died yesterday morning at 10:20 in his home. Death was attributed to a heart seizure.
Mr. Reigle, who with his father, Harry Reigle, attended curbstone market weekly in Shamokin, was under the care physician for two years, However, his death was sudden.
Born in Shamokin Township, November 3, 1906, Mr. Reigle was a son of Harry Reigle and the late Emma Jane (Bowman) Reigle. His mother died August 15 of this year. Mr. Reigle attended Clark's Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church, Irish Valley, and was a member of Stonington Fire Company. He was widely known in the rural area, and played an active role in all Shamokin Township School District affairs. He was elected a school director three years ago.
Surviving are the widow, the former Miss Martha E. Shaffer; four children, Robert L, of Shamokin R. D. 2; Irvin F., of Weigh Scales, and Harry W. and Linda, at home; the father, of Shamokin R. D. four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Snyder, Harrisburg, and Mrs. Stella Lewis, Irish Valley.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in Wirt Funeral Home, Cliftmont, near Sunbury. Rev. Russell Hoffman, pastor of Clark's Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Irish Valley. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening.

Mrs. Alice Snyder, 54, of 1805 North Third Street, Harrisburg, a native of Irish Valley, died Saturday in her home. She was an attendant at Harrisburg State Hosp'tal for the last 10 years.
Mrs. Snyder formerly lived in Zerbe Township.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marvein Jorich, Harrisburg, and Miss Phyllis Kerstetter, Shamokin; her father, Harry Reigle, Irish Valley, and a sister, Mrs. Grant Lewis, also of Irish Valley.

Trevorton Road Mine Employe Dies at Hospital Today.
WALKED INTO BLAST
Irvin Snyder, 30, of Trevorton road, died at Shamokin state hospital this morning at 7:00 from the effects of injuries sustained in a mine explosion at Bear Valley colliery on January 22nd.
Snyder, it will be remembered, walked into a dynamite blast at his place employment and had the right eye blown out, besides suffering other serious head and body injuries. At the time of the accident he was engaged as a repairman.
As a result of a stone being imbedded in the brain, the injured man was partially paralyzed. His serious condition prevented an operation for the the brain pressure. Up until yesterday members the family had entertained hopes for his recovery.
Mrs. Cora Snyder, mother of the deceased, died at Shamokin state hospital January 17, following an operation for gangrenous appendicitis.
Irvin Snyder was born in this city. He was the son of Philip and Cora Snyder. Surviving are his wife, nee Alice Reigle, and daughter, Marvein. father, Philip Snyder, a brother, Lester, of Shamokin, and a sister, Mrs. Harry Shull, of Philadelphia, also survive.
The deceased was a member of the W. O. W., Trevorton. He was one of the community's best known men, having been employed at the Bear Valley colliery the past thirteen years.
The death of Mr. Snyder came as a shock to his many friends in this city. He was a loving father and husband and was held in the highest esteem by all.
Funeral services will be announced later.

Marvein B. Jorich, 86 of Lewes, DE, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Friday may 16, 2014 in Beebe Medical Center.
She was born in Shamokin, PA, daughter of the late Irvin and Alice Snyder. Prior to retirement she was employed for many years at the Progress Grill. She enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach and being with her family.
Marvein was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas Jorich in 1998.
Surviving are her son, Nick, Jorich, his wife Jill, of Camp Hill, daughter, Cindi Potter, her husband Carl, of Mechanicsburg, 4 granddaughters, Michelle Cropper, Katie Lichty, Brittany Jorich and Niccole Jorich .
Funeral service will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.

Nicholas D. Jorich, 68, of Camp Hill, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at home. Born June 10, 1953 in Harrisburg; he was the son of the late Nicholas and Marvein (Snyder) Jorich. Surviving is his wife, Jill M. Jorich; two daughters, Michelle Cropper and Brittany Kopp. The joy of his life was his grandson, Henry, who he fondly referred to as Hurricane Henry. You will know Nick from his many years of employment at Krehling Industries. Nick enjoyed fishing the river and entering numerous tournaments with his cousin Bill; hunting, fishing and especially boating at Lake Raystown. Nick was a good man with a big heart; always willing to lend time and a hand to anyone in need. No services per his request.2

PAXINOS - Mrs. Stella M. Lewis, 59, of Paxinos RD1, died Friday at 9:42 p.m., in the Sunbury Community Hospital where she had been admitted May 8.
Mrs. Lewis had been ill for the past few years and was hospitalized numerous times.
She was educated in Shamokin Township schools and was a member of Clark's Grove United Methodist Church, Irish Valley.
Mrs. Lewis lived in Irish Valley her entire life except for a short period of time when she lived in Tharptown.
Born in Irish Valley, May 7, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Emma Bowman Reigle. Her husband the late Grant C. Lewis, died June 2, 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jane Carsto of Paxinos RD1 and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, from the Robert Foust Funeral Home, Trevorton.
The Rev. Elwood Heiser of Clarkes Grove United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Summit Cemetery, Irish Valley.
At the request of the family there will be no viewing.

SHAMOKIN - Mrs. Phyllis J. Kerstetter, 47, of 962 W. Willow St. died yesterday morning in Shamokin State General Hospital.
Death was due to a heart attack.
Born in Westmoreland County, April 24, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Alice Reigle Kerstetter.
Mrs. Kerstetter last worked for the former Hotel Stanlee, Shamokin.
She is survived by two sons, David P. McGuinn and Michael E. McGuinn, both of Shamokin; and the following half and half sisters, Mrs. Marvein Jorich of Harrisburg, Lee Kerstetter of York, Miss Della Kerstetter and Miss Lorraine Kerstetter, address unknown.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Trevorton, by the Rev. Thomas W. Bickert of Shamokin. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Irish Valley.
Friends will be received tomorrow evening in the funeral home.
