    GRATZ -- Walter W. "Wally" Welker, 69, of 34 S. Second St., died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at his home.
    He was born June 14, 1927, at RR Lykens, a son of the late John Welker and the late Eva (Smeltz) Welker Willier. He married the former Pauline Wiest.
    Mr. Welker was an Army veteran.
    A retired helicopter mechanic, he was employed by the New Cumberland Army Depot.
    He was a member of Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, where he was also a council member.
    Mr. Welker was also a member of the Gratz Area Ambulance Association.
    In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Larry of Gratz and Jerry "Chirp" of Spring Glen; two grandchildren; two brothers, Paul and Lee, both of RR Lykens; and two sisters, Elsie Brown of Gratz and Betty Welker of New York City.
    The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, by the Rev. Barry Ridge. Burial will be in Gratz Union Cemetery.
    Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church.
    Contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Simeon United. Lutheran Church, Gratz, Pa. 17030.
    Arrangements are by the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Market and Chestnut streets, Pillow.

    Leon H. Klock
    November 3, 1935 - April 22, 2020
    Leon H. Klock, 84, of Herndon, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 22, 2020.
    Born in Trevorton on Nov. 3, 1935, he was the son of the late C. Harvey and Mabel (Portzline) Klock. On March 17, 1962, he married Betty Strickler who survives. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage.
    He graduated from Trevorton High School in 1953 and proudly served his country in the US Army from 1954-1956. He was stationed at Camp Busack in Southern France where he obtained the rank of specialist third class. After the service, he worked in the coal industry for one year. He then worked at Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown until 1967. He also worked for the United States Post Office in Sunbury. Leon later worked for the US Department of Agriculture (1967-1993) as a food inspector, and the PA Department of Agriculture as a food sanitation inspector until his retirement in January 2004.
    He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the local fire department, Trevorton, and Moose Lodge, Selinsgrove. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Trevorton. In his younger years, Leon participated in sports, and as a grandfather enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Leon was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Linda Zechman (Lawrence), Kaye Buchspics (Ralph), Thomas Klock (Karen), and Denise Scheib (Richard); daughter-in-law, Sue Hosterman; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with one expected this June; and a great-great-grandson. He is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Aunspach and Marilyn Troutman.
    Leon was preceded in death by a son, Blaine; six brothers, Russell, Donald, Fred, John, Robert, Chester; and two sisters, Jean and Darlene.
    Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Leon's name may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 603 W. Market St., Trevorton, PA 17881.
    Arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, Trevorton.
