    Anna M Smith, age 94, of Fountain, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    She was born on Tuesday, August 4, 1925, in Hubley Twp, a daughter of the late Gurney Smeltz and the late Gabrielle Wiest Smeltz.
    Anna was a graduate of the former Hubley Twp High School.
    She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain.
    Anna enjoyed crocheting and quilting.
    She was preceded in death her parents and her husband, Malcolm L Smith.
    She is survived by a sister, Mary Bowman of Valley View, and by three sons.
    Due to current public health concerns services will be private.
    Burial will be made in Fountain Community Cemetery.
    Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.

    MALCOLM LEROY SMITH
    Malcolm Leroy Smith, 60, of Hegins RD2, father of Ronald and Robert Smith of Pine Grove RD, died Sunday evening in the Veterans Hospital, Lebanon, where he was a patient since April.
    Born in Hegins Township, he was a son of the late Irvin and Clara Bossier Smith. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the European Theatre of Operations. He was last employed by Richmond Screw Anchor Company, Tremont. He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Smeltz; three sons, Ronald and Robert of Pine Grove RD; Marlin of Hegins RD2; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Smeltz, Lykens RD; Mrs. Albert Wetzel, Klingerstown RD; Mrs. Clara Carl of Hegins RD2; one brother, Jesse of Hegins RD2; nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday morning in Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain, with the Rev. Donald Wetzel, his pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Fountain Community Cemetery with full military rites. The A. R. Buffington Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of the arrangements.

    William H. Bowman, 92, of 930 W. Main St., Valley View, passed away Tuesday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    Born July 7, 1922, in Valley View, he was a son of the late Arthur P. and Bessie V. Ney Bowman.
    He was a 1940 graduate of the former Hegins Township High School and a partner in Bowman Brothers Trucking Inc., Valley View, prior to his retirement.
    He served in the Navy during World War II.
    Bill was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento. He was also a member of VFW Post 2385, Valley View, and Trout Unlimited. He was a former member of the Hegins Township Planning Commission.
    Bill was an avid fisherman and fly tier.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lee Bowman; two sisters, Beatrice Bowman and Iris Thomas; two brothers, Glenn Bowman and Dale Bowman.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Smeltz Bowman, to whom he was married for 71 years; two sons, Gerald W Bowman and his wife, Christine, and Ned Allan Bowman, both of Valley View; three granddaughters, Jill Jordan, Cary N.C., Lacy Adams, Berrysburg, and Kelly Klinger, Hershey; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Bowman, Valley View; nieces and nephews.
    Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Raymond Holland and the Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. Interment will be made in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 2300 Main St., Sacramento, PA 17968.
