ROMBYER, THOMAS Charles Born September 17, 1926 passed away on November 2, 2013 at home under the loving care of his family and the Allegiance Hospice staff. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ida Rombyer, loving wife of sixty years, Cornelia (Connie) and son Thomas G. Rombyer. Tom is survived by his brother Robert (Sharon) Rombyer, his son Frederick (Janet) Rombyer, his daughter Candice (Randall) Carlson and daughter-in-law Patricia Rombyer, six grandchildren; Amy (Steven) Tripp, Jeff Shaw, Gary (Jessica) Rombyer, Frederick II (Amy) Rombyer, Patrick (Helena) Rombyer and Rachel (Dennis) Little-Day, five great-grandchildren; Abigail, Tyler, Jonathan, Brandon and Carson. Tom was a graduate of Vandercook Lake High School. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Naval Reserve which he considered an honor to serve his country during World War II. He and Connie were married while he was in the Navy. After the service he worked for Kent Moore Corporation for many years. When he retired Connie and he traveled the United States in their motor home. He could share a story from almost every state. Since Connie's passing, Tom has resided in his son's lake house home in Reed City, Michigan and his granddaughter's home in Jackson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with the great grandchildren, having golf cart races and looking at his "million dollar view" of the lake. Family was very important to him and he will be missed every day. A thank you to the Allegiance staff, especially Vicky and Brenda. You made his journeys easier. A memorial service will be held at Wetherby Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00am with John Beardslee officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allegiance Hospice. Wetherby Funeral Home 402 Wildwood Ave. 517.787.7511.
