    William Ginter, Former Grocer, Is Claimed By Death
    William Ginter, 64, who years ago conducted a grocery store on Market and Broad streets, Nanticoke, died at 2:30 a.m. today at his home, 142 Orchard street, of complications. Mr. Ginter was a life resident of Nanticoke and was well known and highly respected.
    When the Strauss furniture store organized here he left the grocery business and was employed as a salesman at the furniture store, a position he held until the store went out of business about a year ago.
    Mr. Ginter was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church. His wife, the former Sally Glantz, is the daughter of the first minister of that church. Her father was also one of the organizers of the parish.
    Besides his wife, the following children survive: Lawrence, a member of the faculty of West Chester State Teachers' College; Floyd, Lake Silkworth; Dr. L. W. Ginter of Benton; Earl, Charles of Nanticoke, and Willard at home. One sister, Mrs. Libby Schultz of Nanticoke. Seven grandchildren also survive.
    The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the home, with additional services in Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church at 2. Rev. H. Jerome Leinbach, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery.

    L. Ginter-Hartman; was music teacher
    Lillian Urmston Ginter-Hartman, 88, a longtime Chester County resident and a retired music teacher who had taught at several area schools, died Friday at the Masonic Home in Elizabethtown.
    Her first husband, Lawrence R. Ginter, had been a professor of music at West Chester University and a former choir director at the First Presbyterian Church in West Chester, where Mrs. Ginter-Hartman was a longtime member and sang with the choir. He died in 1955. They had been married for 27 years.
    She resided in West Chester from 1936 to 1972, when she married Warren S. Hartman. They resided in the Coatesville area and, after his death in 1986 she returned to West Chester. She lived in the borough until three years ago, when she moved to the Tel-Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook. She had resided at the Masonic Home in Elizbethtown since April.
    A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs. Ginter-Hartman grew up in Cone-maugh, near Johnstown, Pa., and attended school there. She earned her undergraduate degree from New York University and a master's degree in music education from West Chester University.
    She began her teaching career in the Abington School District, then taught at schools in Chester County from 1937 until her retirement in the early 1970s.
    Her son, Lawrence U. Ginter, said that his mother's career spanned a number of years and several grades. She taught everywhere from a one-room school in Guthriesville to college level, he said.
    "She knew a lot of people and tha kept her going," Ginter said. He said his mother, who played the piano, touched many people through her music.
    In 1960, she received a Freedom's Foundation award for excellence in teaching, her son said.
    Among the places she taught music were Immaculata College, schools in East and West Whiteland Townships, and in the West Chester school district. Her last school was Fern Hill Elementary School.
    Mrs. Ginter-Hartman was a member of the Daughters of the Ameri can Revolution and Delta Kappa Gamma, an international organization for women teachers.
    She also is survived by four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
    A service was held Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in West Chester. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
    Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 130 W. Miner St., West Chester, Pa 19382.

    Lawrence Urmston Ginter or “LUG”, as he was often known, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015, at his home at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA.
    Born to Lawrence and Lillian Urmston Ginter on June 30, 1934 in Coatesville, PA, LUG was a lifetime resident of West Chester until a few years ago when he moved to Lewis, DE and then five months ago to the Masonic Village.
    LUG attended West Chester public schools, and the University of Alabama, where he studied Civil Engineering. During high school years, in summers and after school, he worked with local custom homebuilders, and found his passion building homes rather than building bridges and roads.
    He left the University of Alabama to begin his own Custom Home Construction Business in 1957. He built hundreds of the highest quality custom homes throughout West Chester, Chester County, Lancaster County and Stone Harbor. LUG expanded his business to include real estate development of small shopping centers, bank buildings and commercial warehouses.
    A licensed Realtor, he was owner of Carriage Realty, a full service Real Estate Company in West Chester. A past President of the Pennsylvania Home Builders Association, LUG took great pride in creating beautiful neighborhoods and shaping the future of West Chester.
    He was a long-standing member of the Masons of West Chester Lodge No. 322 F.&AM and a lifetime member and former trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester. He also attended Wells Memorial Church, Avalon, NJ.
    He is survived by his four daughters Lauren Jackson, Lynn May, Leigh Clark Brooks, Lizabeth Conners and his adored grandchildren, Emily and Ben Jackson, Madeleine and Sam May, Hannah-Leigh and Haley Clark Brooks, and Natalie Conners. He was pre-deceased by grandson Parker Jackson. He is also survived by his former wife, Eleanor (Elle Lewis).
