  Kermit W. Kissinger, 88, of Duncannon, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011 at home surrounded by his family.
  He was born on August 30, 1923 in Lykens, PA to the late Daniel F. and Mary A. (Hoffman) Kissinger.
  He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII.
  Kermit had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and retired from Conrail.
  He was a member of the Duncannon Church of God, Halifax VFW and the Duncannon American Legion.
  He was as accomplished Bluegrass Musician having played the mandolin in the Meadow Grove Bluegrass Band, the Mountain Road Bluegrass Band, Firefox Band and was a member of the 7 Mountains Bluegrass Association.
  Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Dorothy J. (Straub) Kissinger, three sons Richard M. Kissinger and his wife Deborah L. of Duncannon, Dennis K. Kissinger and his wife Mary of Millerstown, Gregory J. Kissinger and his wife Patricia of New Bloomfield, three daughters Dolores E. Clark and her husband Roy of Klingerstown, Bonita L. Kissinger and her husband Jerome of Halifax, Michelle A. Corsnitz and her husband William, Jr. of Duncannon, two brothers Harold G. Kissinger of Harrisburg, Leonard W. Kissinger of Halifax, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Bahner.
  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the Duncannon Church of God with Rev. Dave H. Robinson, officiating.
  The family will greet relatives and friends at a fellowship luncheon in the church hall immediately following the memorial service.
  Arrangements are being handled by the Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kermit's honor may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to the Duncannon Church of God, 2 Muhlenberg Street, Duncannon, PA 17020.
