    SHAMOKIN - The funeral service for Ralph C. Lenig, 72, of Shamokin RDI, Little Mahanoy Township, who was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday in the Sunbury Community Hospital, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in the Robert Foust Funeral Home, Trevorton.
    The Rev. Glenn Keidel of Hunters Station Emmanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hunters Marion.
    Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening.
    Mr. Lenig was stricken ill at home and was taken to the hospital by the Trevorton ambulance.
    He leaves 90 direct descendants. He was a coal miner by occupation and also operated a coal washery in Little Mahanoy Township for many years.
    He was educated in the Lower Augusta Township schools, and was a resident of Little Mahanoy Township most of his life.
    Mr. Lenig was a member of Hunters Station Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Shamokin Eagles, and Line Mountain Four Wheelers.
    Born in Rush Township, Dec. 18, 1901, he was a son of the late Franklin P. and Mary Boyer Lenig. In 1921 he married the former Lena Long who survives.
    In addition to his widow he is survived by four sons, Glenn, Ivan, Dale and Calvin Lenig, all of Shamokin RDI; nine daughters, Mrs. Robert Walker of North Hollywood. Calif., Mrs. John Harris of Dornsife, Mrs. Arnold Collier of Bloomsburg, Mrs. Richard Michael of Millersburg, Mrs. Harlan Martz of Gratz, Mrs. Ralph Campbell, Mrs. Ray Brosius, Mrs. Guy Snyder Jr., and Mrs. Terry Snyder, all of Dornsife RD; 50 grandchildren and 27 greatgrandchildren.
    Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Sadie Sherman of Trevorton; three brothers. Herbert Lenig of Augustaville, Roy Lenig of West Cameron Township, and Francis Lenig of Sunbury RD3. one son died before him.

    Lena A. Lenig, 87, Dornsife
    DORNSIFE - Lrna A. Lenig, 87, who had 148 descendants, died Monday evening. May 21, 1990, at the home of her daughter, Shirley Harris of Dornsife RD1, where she lived.
    She had been in ill health for seven vears.
    Born in West Cameron Township Oct, 30, 1902, she was a daughter of the late Nathan Ira and Tamie (Long) Long. She lived in the Hunter Station-Little Mahanoy Township area all of her life.
    In 1921, she married Ralph Lenig, who died in 1974. She and her late husband owned and operated a coal washery business for many years.
    She was educated in West Cameron Township schools.
    Mrs. Lenig was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hunter Station, and a former member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid Society.
    She is survived by eight daughter, Margaret Wetzel Walker of North Hollywood , Calif. , Shirley Harris of Dornsife RD1, Laura Collier of Bloomsburg, Clarabelle Campbell, Doris Brosius and Dawn Snyder, all of Dornsife RD, Arla Michael of Millersburg and Ruth Snydermull of Sunbury; four sons, Glenn, Ivan, Dale and Calvin, all of Shamokin RD; three sisters, Edna Schwalm of Trevorton, Laura Mae Ellis of West Palm, Fla., and June Harris of Shamokin RD1; one brother, William Long of Herndon RD; 51 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-granddaughters.
    She was preceded in death by an infant son, Gene Audery Lenig; a daughter, Mabel Virginia Martz; a granddaughter, Barbara A. Lenig; and four brothers and sisters.
    The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hunter Station, by the Rev. Glen B. Keidel. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Visitors may call from noon until the time of the service Friday in the church.
    Funeral arrangements were made by the Robert Foust Funeral Home, Trevorton.

    Lloyd E. Mattern
    Lloyd Edward Mattern, 55, of Valley View Star Route, Hubley Township, died suddenly at Valley Forge Heart Clinic, near Norristown, Sunday morning.
    Mr. Mattern was with his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Runkle, of Hegins, on their way to Warminster, when he was stricken ill at Collegeville. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and admitted at 10:30 a.m. He died at 11:30 a.m.
    A native of Hubley Township, Mr. Mattern was a son of Mrs. Emma Harner Mattern and the late John Mattern. He was employed as a farmer and miner until his retirement, due to ill health, in 1959. Mr. Mattern was a member of the evangelical United Brethren Church, Valley View and the Men's Bible Class, of that parish.
    Surviving, in addition to his mother are his widow, the former Minnie Runkle; one son, William, Valley View; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Michael, at home; one sister, Mrs. Mae Scheib, Valley View; one brother, Albert, Valley View and one grandchild.
    Funeral Thursday afternoon from Evangelical United Brethren Church. Rev. C. R. Swartz and Rev. H. M. Mentzer, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Evangelical United Btethren Cemetery, Sacramento.
    Buffington Funeral Service, Valley View, has charge.

    Mrs. Mattern was born June 9, 1902 at Rough and Ready, daughter of the late James and Annie Oxenrider Runkle. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.
