Klinger married Carl Brust on 2 June 1940.1 Loretta R. Klinger died on 9 February 2010, Keystone Cedars Assisted Living, Cedar Rapids, Linn County, IA, at age 91.2

MASON CITY -- Loretta R. Rose Brust, 91, of Mason City, formerly of La Porte City, died Tuesday (Feb. 9, 2010) at Keystone Cedars Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids, her home for the last 4 1/2 years.
She was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Waterloo, the daughter of Fred and Gertrude Wilcox Klinger. She married Carl Brust on June 2, 1940, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in November 2003.
She was a very social person, she loved people. She enjoyed neighboring, small family gatherings and large family reunions. As a young woman, she loved to dance and met her husband-to-be, Carl, at the Electric Park Ballroom in Waterloo. They were in love and married 63 years.
She loved traveling throughout the U.S., enjoyed playing cards, crafting ceramics and spending time with her two granddaughters. She had worked 28 years for the Mason City Public Schools as a kitchen manager, retiring in 1981. In the late 1960s Loretta was elected as president of the School Food Service Employees of Iowa.
Survived by one son, Jim Brust, of Marion; two granddaughters, Lindsay Brust of Boulder, Colo., and Emily Brust of Silverthorne, Colo; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard (Margaret) Brust of Monmouth, Ore., and Al Brustkern of Cedar Rapids; and two nephews, David Brustkern of Des Moines and Al Brustkern of Morrison, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter in infancy; one granddaughter, Megan Brust; and one sister, Lois Brustkern.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in the West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Lorettas name to Iowa Hospice at 800 First Ave N.E., Cedar Rapids, or to the Parkinsons Foundation.
Loretta will be loved, missed and never forgotten. Amen.

Lois L. Brustkern, 82, died Saturday morning, September 20, 2003 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of heart failure. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Independence with Rev. Aloysius J. Vorwald officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband Alvin of Independence; three sons, David of Des Moines; Alvin of Morrison, IL, and Tim (Pam) Brustkern of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Loretta Brust of Mason City; three granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren.      David Nicholas Brustkern was born on 22 June 1943, Waterloo, Black Hawk County, IA.1,2 He was the son of Alvin Nicholas Brustkern and Lois Louise Klinger. David Nicholas Brustkern died on 9 March 2016, at age 72.2

David Nicholas Brustkern, age 72, went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2016.
He was born June, 22, 1943 in Waterloo, Iowa to Alvin and Lois Brustkern.
His childhood years were spent on the family farm near Rowley, IA. He and his family converted 110 acres of virgin prairie to grain farm land using a one bottom plow, adding to the original 120 acres. This land continues to be in the Brustkern family today.
He graduated from Rowley High school in 1961.
He served in the United States Air Force in Okinawa, Vietnam, Korea, and the Pentagon during the Vietnam era.
After his military service David attended the University of Northern Iowa. He spent the majority of his adult life working in service to others through Easter Seals and Very Special Arts.
David loved gardening, photography, traveling, and art collecting. Actually he was a collector of everything. He had many booths at Collectamania in Des Moines and Story City. David’s greatest collection was his friends! He had a wide circle of long-time friends from many walks of life. He was a founding member of CAST (Catholic Adult Singles Together) and cherished the relationships he formed through this organization. He was known for having the best parties, especially Halloween parties. David shared his Holidays and special events with those he loved.
He was a lover of animals and had several cats, and throughout the years a multitude of guinea pigs and many aquariums.
David is survived by his brother Alvin Brustkern, his brother Tim (Pam) Brustkern, and three nieces Sherry (Gordan Baker) Brustkern, Deann (Robert) McNammer, Laura Brustkern, and his special cousin/lifelong friend Jim Brust.
Although David never married and had children of his own, he became a cherished member of many families.
He was asked to be a godfather to Dan Brustkern, Sherry Brustkern, David Becker, Mary Bridget Van Liew, and Bryan Danford. David will be missed by so many.
Visitation will be held at Merle Hay Funeral home on Friday evening March 11, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. with Military Honors and a prayer service at 7 p.m. There will be a 30 minute viewing preceding a 10:30 mass of Christian burial on Saturday March 12, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church 15 Indianola Ave, Des Moines, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Easter Seals of Iowa or Very Special Arts of Iowa.

Mrs. Barbara S. Klinger, age
68 years, died at her home in Lykens Township on Tuesday. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Klingerstown.
Mrs. Klinger was a daughter of Harrison and Ellen (Snyder) Williard, and was a native of Lykens Township. Her husband, Alexander Klinger, preceded her in death two years ago.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. William Wiest of Klingerstown; Mrs. Roy Shade and Mrs. Ray Hartman, both of Lykens Township; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Morris and Isaiah Williard, of Klingerstown, and William Williard, of Independence, Missouri.
Services will be held from the residence at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Rev. W. Z. Artz, pastor of the Lykens Valley Lutheran Parish will officiate and interment will be in the Klingerstown Cemetery.
Friends may call at the residence Friday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
