Michael L. Close, 22, hanging victim
DOVER, Del. -- Michael L. Close, 22, of 100 Haman Drive, died Monday , evening at his home.
Capt. Larry Gray, administrative officer of the Dover police, said Mr. Close was found by his wife at about 11:10 p.m. Monday in the family home. He declined to say in what part of the home his body was discovered hanging.
He said police are calling it an accidental death pending a finding by a medical examiner. The report is expected later today.
Gray said there was no sign of foul play and the death is not of a suspicious nature.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., Jan. 10, 1962, he was the son of Joseph J. and Joan M. Erdman Close of Hummels Wharf.
He was married to the former Jacqueline M. Nichols.
He was a airman stationed with Dover Air Force Base. He was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church, Selinsgrove, and was a graduate of Eastridge High School, Rochester.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Tama Erdman of Hummels Wharf; and two sisters, Kimberly of Hummels Wharf and Mrs. Pamela Branch of Rochester.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Ernest Korten Jr. Funeral Home, Sunbury, by the Rev. Richard C. Rife, vice pastor of Sharon Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, with full military honors provided by Army Air Force. Dover.
Friends may call in the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
