Charles L. Snyder, 59, of Pitman, died suddenly at his home Saturday at 11:45 p.m.
Born in Pitman, November 11, 1908, he was the son of the late Walter and Sallie Miller Snyder. He was employed by Starr Poultry Company, Valley View.
Mr. Snyder was a member of the Mahantongo Fire Company, Pitman; the Valley View Fire Company; the Woodman of the World Lodge, Camp No. 443. Pitman, and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workers of America, Local 72, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are his wife, Daisy Maurer Snyder; two children, Lamar C. Snyder, Elizabethville RD2; a daughter, Pauline, wife of Percy Troutman, Dornsife, Star Route, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Dewalt, Herndon, RD. and Mrs. Edward Wiest of Pitman and seven grandchildren.

Walter E. Snyder, 74, Pitman, died yesterday afternoon at 12:40 in his home after an illness of two years.
A retired lumberman, Mr. Snyder was born May 31, 1879, in Leck Kill, and was a son of the late Aaron and Elizabeth (Erdman) Snyder. His wife, the former Miss Sallie Miller, died in 1953.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs Charles Dewalt, Pitman, with whom Mr. Snyder lived; one step-daughter, Mrs. Edward Wiest, Gratz; one son, Charles, Pitman; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Hornberger, Mount Carmel; Mrs. Delia Miller, Valley View, and Mrs. Mayme Shade, Pitman, and two brothers, Charles and George Snyder, both of Pitman.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown R.D. Burial will be in Howerter Cemetery, Pitman. Rev. John M. Light, Leck Kill, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening.

PAULINE'S OBITUARY
Pauline Elva "Polly" Troutman, 87, of Dornsife, passed away Wednesday, December 4th, at her home surrounded by her family.
Pauline was born in Klingerstown, at her grandparents home on April 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Daisy (Maurer) and Charles Snyder.
She graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School in 1950 and it was on a school trip to the Farm Show that she met her future husband, Percy R. Troutman. They were married June 24, 1950 and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2018.
Along with her husband they began Troutman's Feed and Grain. In addition to doing the bookkeeping for the business she raised six children and found time to attend PTA meetings and help with Girl Scouts where she was the cookie chairperson for many years. She was very involved with the raising of her grandchildren.
In the early 70's they moved into a different venture which began as Troutman's French Fries and evolved into Troutman's Food Service. She spent many hours making French Fries and cleaning equipment and trailers. They managed the baked potato, french fry, and potato donut concession stands for the PA Co-Op Potato Growers Association at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, traveled to the Lewisburg and Crossroads Markets, and other area events.
Pauline was initiated into the Idella Rebekah Lodge #58 as a Charter Member on February 12, 1958 and served as the first recording secretary. She was a noble grand in 1966-67 and served on numerous committees and held many appointed offices within the lodge. She was a delegate to the Rebekah Assembly in 1968 and received the Declaration of Chivalry in 1998. She was a member of the Tri-County Past Noble Grand, a Past President of the Idella Rebekah Lodge Past Noble Grand Association, and held the office of Inside Guardian of the Rebekah Assembly of Pennsylvania. She received the Rebekah of the Year Award from the Idella Rebekah Lodge #58 in 2005. In 2009 she was presented with the Tri-County Rebekah of the Year Award. She was also a 60 year member of the Grand Chaper of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Herndon Senior Action Center.
She was an active member of Himmel's Church and Sunday School. She served on the joint council, was a member and past treasurer of Himmel's Church Women and for many years was the head of the Kitchen Committee. She also served on the Washington Township Election Board and was instrumental in starting the Line Mountain Food Bank.
Pauline will be remembered for her dedication to family, her hard working spirit and her willingness to help anyone. Her unconditional love and kindness to her family and friends will be missed. She enjoyed reading, community involvement and traveling.
She is survived by six children; Patricia, wife of Andrew Kahler; Debra, wife of Michael Hyde; Richard Troutman and his wife Patty; Rahn Troutman and his wife Traci; Bonita, wife of Eric McDowell and Angela Troutman; 13 grandchildren, Melissa Davignon, Jared Troutman and his wife Jessica, Ryan Herman, Jason Troutman and his wife Jenna, Amanda Hyde, Clayton Hyde, Kaitlyn Troutman, Kylie Troutman, Connor Troutman, Laura Wassmer, Cameron McDowell, Parker McDowell and his wife Mariya, and Alexander Percy Troutman; five great grandchildren, Landon Troutman, Bennett Troutman, Maxon Davignon, Abigail Troutman, and Jack McDowell; brother-in-law Earnest, husband of Nancy Troutman; two sisters-in law Elizabeth Michael and Florence Snyder; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother Lamar Snyder.
Viewing will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 from 7-9 PM at Himmel's Church, 107 Covered Bridge Road, Dornsife. Viewing will also be held on Tuesday from 9:30-11 AM, with the Rebekah Lodge conducting their service at 10:30 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jane Compton officiating. Interment will follow in Himmel's Cemetery.

David P. Maurer Dies At Hepler Of Stroke
David P. Maurer, 87, retired blacksmith of Hepler, died at his home this morning at 5:30 o'clock a from a stroke. He had been in fine health upon retiring last night but suffered the stroke early this morning and died several hours i later.
He was born and reared in Hepler and was well known in that vicinity. He was an active member of the Hepler Lutheran church -and took part in all civic affairs.
Surviving are four sons, Charles s D. Maurer, Hepler; Donald Maurer, at home; Edgar Maurer, Adamsdale; Raymond Maurer, Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin Snyder, Hepler, and Mrs. Jane Herb, Frackville.

Widely Known Woman Succumbs Following An Illness of Four Days
Mrs. Catherine Maurer, wife of David P. Maurer, died at her home at Hepler, Schuylkill county, Saturday afternoon, following an illness of four days. Asthma was the cause of death.
She was aged 77 years, 8 months and 21 days. Surviving beside her husband are four sons: Donald, of Cressona; Charles, of Hepler; Edgar, of Schuylkill Haven; and Raymond, of Pontiac, Mich. She is also survived by a brother, Emanuel Erdman, of Bloomsburg; and a step-brother, Edgar Rumberger, of Rough and Ready.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 o'clock from the home and later r the Lutheran and Reformed church. Rough and Ready. Rev. Fetterolf will officiate and burial will be made in Rough and Ready.
