Services for Lamar D. "Sonny" Stiely, 65, of East Market Street, Gratz, who died Thursday morning at Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township, Northumberland County, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Stephen R. Rothermal Funeral Home, RR1 Klingerstown. The Rev. Barry Ridge will officiate. Interment will be i in Gratz Union Cemetery, with full military graveside services conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2385, Gratz.
Born in Rough and Ready, June 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Iva Wolfgang. He was a 1950 graduate of Hubley Township High School.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He retired in 1998 as a mill manager at Wenger's Feed Mill, Spring Glen. He had previously been employed as an electrician and mechanic for Quaker State Farms Inc. and the former Spread Eagle Farms Inc., both of Klingerstown.
He was a member of Simeon Lutheran Church and VFW Post 2385, both of Gratz, and the Elk Trail Gun Club, Potter County. He was also an avid woodworker and enjoyed hunting, baseball, and NASCAR.
Surviving are his wife, the former Lottie J. "Pat" Teter, whom he married on Sept. 3, 1955; son, Steven L., Red Cross, RR1 Dornsife; a daughter, Sheila R. Schwak, Dayton, RR1 Williamstown; a sister, LaRae I. Kitzmiller, Dillsburg; five grandchildren.
